  • Publication number: 20030117672
Abstract: A line clocking arrangement is used in a scanner for synchronizing the line readout of a clocked imaging device with the motion of an object being scanned. The line clocking arrangement includes an encoder for sensing movement of the object being scanned and generating a sync signal in correspondence with a movement of the object, and a timing generation circuit for generating clock signals for controlling the clocked imaging device. The clock signals include a drain clock signal for controlling the dumping of charge into an overflow drain and an output clock signal for clocking image charge through an horizontal output register. The timing generation circuit receives the sync signal and times the duration of the drain clock signal and the beginning of the output clock signal to the occurrence of the sync signal, whereby the line readout time is dynamically adjusted to changes in velocity of the scanned object during a period when charge is being dumped into the overflow drain.

  • Patent number: 6037041
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of providing an encodable layer on a glass object and on the resultant product. The layer is formed by providing a paste containing glass frit, pigment and a binder, on the hot glass. As a result, the glass frit melts, causing the pigment to adhere to the glass object. The binder, which is used to render the paste spreadable, disappears from the mixture.

  • Patent number: 6023557
Abstract: A photographic printer that uses a plurality of small CRTs, or multiple image segments displayed on a single CRT, to print wide format images. Within the printer, the multiple CRTs are positioned adjacent one another and display through lenses so that image segments displayed by adjacent CRTs join one another. The image segments of the single CRT also display through lenses, or mirrors and lenses, that join the segments. The printer may decompose each line of the image into horizontal image segments, or the printer may receive each image segment from a host computer system, and the printer displays the image segments on the CRTs such that they are exposed joined with one another on the photographic media. The printer also contains a closed loop calibration system to adjust the length of each image segment.

  • Patent number: 5786903
Abstract: The present invention discloses a multi-power control system for scanners. The method of the present invention has a mode of warm up time, which is controlled by a software that is embeded in a computer. Users can choose a mode of warm up time to control the warm up duration when a cathode ray tube needs. After scanning, users can determine whether the scanner is to operate or in standby status. When the user chooses the latter, the luminosity of the cathode ray tube is according to the user's pre-set. This multi-power control system not only can reduce the warm up time but also can be in harmony with the concept of enviromental protection.

  • Patent number: 5239243
Abstract: Disclosed is a system having a memory mapped deflection to control the position of an electron beam within a CRT used to project a color image onto a photographic medium for printing. A horizontal position counter is incremented at a linear rate, and the counter value is translated, using a translation table stored in memory, into a current used to drive the yoke of the CRT. The translation introduces non-linearities into the output voltage which results in a linear forward sweep across the CRT. A sweep direction signal is used as an address bit of the translation table, to allow an optimized retrace motion profile which results in an improved linear beam motion across the face of the CRT during the forward sweep immediately following retrace.

  • Patent number: 5084656
Abstract: Disclosed is a system having a vertical position register and a horizontal deflection controller to position an electron beam within a CRT used to project an image onto a photographic medium for printing. When data is being displayed on the CRT, the beam is positioned vertically to the desired color phosphor row and then swept across the face of the CRT while the data is used to modulate the beam. During retrace, the beam is stopped at the center of the CRT and displaced vertically to a home position while waiting for the next dot row of information. The home position is located above the center of the phosphor area so that no leakage occurs if the beam remains in the home position for extended periods. Furthermore, while in the home position at the center of the CRT, the horizontal deflection amplifier dissipates a minimum amount of power.
