Facsimile Transparency Image Scanning Patents (Class 358/487)
  • Publication number: 20090135455
Abstract: An image processing method of removing flaw and a device using the same are provided. The image processing method is used in an image processing device and includes the following steps. Firstly, a transparent manuscript is transparently scanned to obtain a first scanning image. Next, the transparent manuscript is reflectively scanned to obtain a second scanning image. Then, a flaw-positioning image is obtained via the second scanning image. Afterwards, the first scanning image is modified by using the flaw-positioning image according to an image-recovered method for correcting the image value of the pixel in the first scanning image corresponding to at least part of the flaw in the transparent manuscript.

  • Patent number: 7529000
Abstract: In an image reading apparatus which can read a transparent original and reflection original, a white background is formed like a sheet. The image reading apparatus is arranged to be movable by a pair of rollers which rotate using, e.g., the driving source of an original feeder. To read a transparent original, the white sheet is moved by the pair of rollers to a position where a transparent original reading illumination unit is exposed. This makes it possible to eliminate trouble in detaching the white background mounted on the back of an original platen in accordance with the type of an original to be read.

  • Patent number: 7518758
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for increasing a scanning resolution. The present invention is applied in optics input equipments, such as scanners and multi-function peripherals. The scanning method projects a light to an original to produce a first image and then focuses the first image with a magnification M to generate a second image. The second image is reflected from reflectors to the scanning module to process the scanning. The resolution of the image scanned by the scanning module is M times of a native resolution of the scanning module.

  • Patent number: 7362455
Abstract: Systems and methods of processing scanned pages are described. In one aspect, the invention features a method of processing a sequence of scanned pages of a document in accordance with which, page number indicators are extracted from scanned pages of the document. A histogram of extracted page number indicators is computed. Scanned page sequence information is determined based at least in part on the computed histogram. A computer program and a system for implementing the scanned page processing method also are described.

  • Patent number: 7362478
Abstract: A display and scanning assembly is disclosed wherein light reflected from or transmitted through an image being scanned is transmitted to an optical sensor through an optical shutter assembly via a light guide assembly. The optical shutter assembly is made substantially opaque except for one or more selected optical shutter elements that are made substantially transparent or opened. Light is then reflected from or transmitted through the medium containing the image to be scanned through substantially transparent shutter element or elements and transmitted to the optical sensor via a light guide assembly. The image may then be scanned by advancing selection of shutter element or elements that are opened across the medium.

  • Patent number: 7359095
Abstract: A film holding apparatus for use with a scanner is provided. The film holding apparatus selectively holds a positive film and a negative film that are to be scanned. The positive film is thicker than the negative film. The film holding apparatus includes a base, a plate disposed above the base, and a pressing unit disposed above the plate. The plate has a surface for selectively receiving a positive film and a negative film. When the surface of the plate receives the positive film, the plate vertically moves for a distance toward the base. When the surface of the plate receives a negative film, the negative film is held between the surface of the plate and the pressing unit.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and user-interfaces consistent with embodiments of the present invention provide for a method for secure document scanning in a non-private environment. In some methods for secure document scanning in a non-private environment, the presence of an accessible and writeable removable media device coupled to a scanning device may be detected and the user may be presented with interfaces to configure parameters related to the scan, including scanning device related parameters, document related parameters, and removable media device related parameters. The scanned document may be saved to the removable media device if it meets criteria specified by the user, which may include verification and authentication of security mechanisms embedded in the document.

  • Patent number: 7343320
Abstract: A system is provided that allows a photographer to take images for a customer and provide those images to order servicing equipment with which the images are placed on-line for the customer to view. The customer may place orders for the images and products and services related to the images. The order servicing equipment may credit the photographer when the customer orders images, products, or services. Images may be manipulated before images, products, or services are ordered. Images may be taken using film-based cameras or digital image acquisition equipment. Image presentation options may be selected. Content may be appended to the images. Web sites and digital albums may be created using the images. The photographer may check the status of assignments that have been submitted to the order servicing equipment and may check on account status. Different rights levels may be established for different parties. Loyalty rewards may be awarded for frequent use of the system.

  • Patent number: 7327493
Abstract: An object of this invention is to provide an image reading apparatus which can reselect a film type after prescanning, and after confirming the result on the monitor, perform actual scanning. To achieve this object, a film scanner selects from a color table storage a color table corresponding to the type of film, sets the color table in an image data converter, and performs prescanning. If the user reselects a film type after prescanning, the color table set before prescanning and a color table selected after prescanning are transferred to a confirmation image changing unit where the difference between the two tables is calculated. Prescanned image data is transferred from a memory to the confirmation image changing unit, added to the difference, and returned to the memory. The color table selected after prescanning is set in the image data converter, and scanning for obtaining a high-resolution image is executed.

  • Publication number: 20070291329
Abstract: A thin transparent media adapter is used when scanning transparent media on a contact image sensor or reduction optics scanner. The adapter uses illumination from an existing scanner light source to illuminate a diffuser and the media. A lens assembly is used to focus the light from the media to create an intermediate image between the adapter and the scanner platen glass. The adapter is an optical assembly that forms an intermediate image of the transparent media in the image side focal plane of existing scanner optics. The existing scanner optics can then capture and focus the light from the intermediate image onto the scanner's existing sensor array. The adapter magnetically couples to the scan system to allow the lens array to follow movement of the optical system of the scanner.
