  • Patent number: 9116453
Abstract: An image forming apparatus calculates a positional deviation in the main and sub-scanning directions for each color by forming registration patterns in two arrays along a sub-scanning direction on an image carrier. Each registration pattern in one array is paired with an identical registration pattern in the other array. A first sensor has: a light-emitting element irradiating one registration pattern in a pair; a photodetector for regular reflection light; and a photodetector for diffuse reflection light. A second sensor has: a light-emitting element irradiating the other one in the pair; and a photodetector for regular reflection light. The relative positions of a pair of registration patters calculated using the respective sensors are corrected so as to reduce the positional deviation between the calculated positions by the amount of offset deviation estimated occur between positions detected by the respective sensors when the registration patterns are without positional deviation.

  • Patent number: 8837016
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a resolution converting unit, an address generating unit, a density determining unit, and an image path selector. The resolution converting unit converts a resolution of image data into a higher resolution. The address generating unit performs a position determining process of determining a position of an additional pixel on the basis of main-scanning directional positions of pixels composing the converted image data and respective shift amounts of the pixels shifted to a sub-scanning direction. The density determining unit determines a density of the additional pixel on the basis of a density of a pixel located at a position corresponding to the determined position in the image data. The image path selector scales the image data up or down by controlling the address generating unit while adding the additional pixel having the determined density to the determined position.

  • Publication number: 20140218772
Abstract: An image reading apparatus corrects a deviation of a reading position of a document to accurately correct a luminance intensity distribution variation. Light is radiated to a shading plate (102) provided at a portion different from a reading position (luminance-intensity-distribution-variation correction reading line 103b) for a document (P) while displacing an illumination unit (101), and shading correction is carried out based on a luminance value of reflection of the light. Light is radiated to the reading position before the document (P) is transported thereto while displacing the illumination unit (101) in the same direction as a displacement direction of the illumination unit (101) at a time of performing shading correction. The luminance value of the reflected light at this time is compared with the luminance value after the shading correction to generate luminance-value reference data before the reading of the document.

Abstract: An image reading device starts executing a reading process before a sheet reaches a reading position, and executes the reading process subsequently and repeatedly. A partial image is acquired each time the reading process is executed. Each time one partial image is acquired, the image reading device determines a number of pixels awarded to the one partial image; and determines an intensity awarded to the one partial image. The image reading device decides that at least one of the two successively-acquired partial images corresponds to an end of the sheet when the two partial images satisfy the conditions (A) and (B). Condition (A): the determined number of pixels is changed between the two successively-acquired partial images. Condition (B): the determined intensity is changed between the two successively-acquired partial images.
