Abstract: A reproduction apparatus is provided which reproduces, from a hologram recording medium on which digital data are recorded as an element hologram formed from interference fringes generated by interference of imaged data of the digital data as object light with reference light, the digital data. If a synchronization signal recorded in advance in a predetermined region of the hologram recording medium is detected successfully, then it is decided that the tracking state with regard to the element hologram is favorable. In this instance, signal processing is performed the image picked up from the element hologram to reproduce the digital data.

Abstract: A compact and low-cost hologram reproducing apparatus with a simple mechanism is provided. A light source 1 and a lens 11 for generating parallel light are provided on an inner surface of a housing 5. By changing the angle of a biaxially driven galvanometer mirror 2 provided at an appropriate position opposing the light source 1 and the lens 11, reflected light is applied two-dimensionally, in the vertical and horizontal directions, on a recording element 3 mounted below and adjacent to the housing, and is entered as reference light in holograms. Further, light beams exiting from the holograms are received at the same optimal position on a light-receiving element 4 disposed in an upper part of the housing. The received light is subjected to data decoding so as to reproduce read-only holograms.

  • Publication number: 20090122375
Abstract: In a holographic information recording and reproducing apparatus, an optical fiber guides a reference beam toward a recording medium for holographic recording, and a precision rotator is turned, so that the reference beam is incident on the recording medium at different angles and interferes with a data-carrying signal beam to complete the recording of holographic information on the recording medium. To reproduce the holographic information, the optical fiber guides a reading beam, and the reading beam is incident on the recording medium at an angle the same as the reference beam for the recording to reproduce the holographic information stored on the recording medium. With the optical fiber and the precision rotator, a simplified light path system and a wide range of incident angles for the reference and reading beams may be achieved, and the transmissive, reflective, and 90-degree holographic storage techniques may be integrated in one single apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7508559
Abstract: A surface relief hologram that includes two or more patterns, each pattern being sensitive to different radiation wavelengths. The hologram is made by defining relief features that are sensitive to different wavelengths, and in particular, to one wavelength that is visible to the unaided human eye and to one wavelength that is invisible to the unaided human eye. These relief features of different sensitivities are interspersed over the surface of the substrate in which the hologram is defined. By providing two patterns of different sensitivities, when the hologram is used in a security device, security is improved. Despite this improved security, the hologram can be mass manufactured using known techniques.

  • Patent number: 7460286
Abstract: The exposure amounts of R, G, and B laser light emitted from a fabrication light source are so adjusted that the diffraction efficiency at R, G, and B wavelengths in an optical element is commensurate with the light intensity at the R, G, and B wavelengths in the light emitted from a reproduction light source. For example, when the light intensity of the light emitted from the reproduction light source is increasingly low at the B, G, and R wavelengths in this order, the exposure amounts of the R, G, B, laser light emitted from the fabrication light source are so adjusted that the diffraction efficiency in the optical element is increasingly high at the B, G, and R wavelengths in this order. In this way, the hue of the light (reproduction light) obtained from the reproduction light source via the optical element can be adjusted to the hue desired with every reproduction light source used, while the most use is made of the light emitted from the reproduction light source actually used.

  • Patent number: 7054045
Abstract: A holographic HMI allows data and commands to be entered into electronic equipment. The HMI involves no tangible physical contact between the human operator and the control elements because the input devices are holographic images of keys or other customarily touch-activated tangible input elements. Operator interaction is detected through electromagnetic means, obviating the need for direct physical contact with any solid input object or surface. Such HMIs generate a holographic image of a tangible input object of the tangible control mechanism. An illumination device illuminates the hologram to produce the holographic image. An actuation detection device detects the selection by the operator of a holographic image, and a signal generator receives the detection of the actuation detection device and provides an input signal to the electronic or electro-mechanical device thereby to produce the response. The hologram is affixed to a transparent or translucent material.

Abstract: A computer-generated hologram fabrication process which reduces loads on computation of interference fringes for an original image including micro-characters. A visually perceivable original image and a visually unperceivable original image (micro-characters) are defined, and sample point sources of light are defined at a low density on the original image and at a high density on the original image. Interference fringes of object light are found on each computation point within a first area on a recording surface, and interference fringes of object light are found on each computation point within a second area on the recording surface. The light sources that become samples are defined at a given pitch on sectional lines obtained by cutting the original images 11 and 12 by a multiplicity of sections (parallel with an XZ plane) located at a given spacing. The section-to-section spacing for the original image 12 is made narrows than that for the original image 11.
