The Head Up Display includes a first waveguide having a first input coupler and a first output coupler. The Head Up Display can also include a second waveguide having a second input coupler and a second output coupler. The first waveguide has a first major surface and the second waveguide has a second major surface, which are disposed approximately parallel to each other. The first waveguide and the second waveguide are positioned as a combiner and allowing viewing an outside feed and information from an image source. The first input coupler diffracts light in the first field of view into the first waveguide and light in a second field of view reaches the second input coupler and is diffracted into the second waveguide.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2011Date of Patent: December 2, 2014Assignee: Rockwell Collins, Inc.Inventors: Robert D. Publication number: 20140111609Abstract: Technologies are generally described for reproducing holographic images by causing a photo-induced change in the diffractive index of a holographic recording medium. An example device may include a light irradiation unit and a transparent substrate. The light irradiation unit can be configured to transmit a photo-inducing light. Further, the transparent substrate may have a predetermined refractive index and can be configured to include a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface. The first surface can be configured to receive an incident light, and the second surface can be configured to receive the photo-inducing light. The transparent substrate can be configured to form interference fringe patterns from a photo-induced change in the refractive index of the transparent substrate responsive to the photo-induced light.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 30, 2012Publication date: April 24, 2014Applicant: EMPIRE TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT LLCInventor: Eiji Yamaichi

Patent number: 8498034Abstract: A method for producing a security element (55) and a security element (55) in the form of a multilayered film body having a top side facing the observer. The security element (55) has a volume hologram layer, in which a volume hologram is recorded, which provides a first optically variable information item. The security element (55) has a replication layer, in the surface of which a relief structure providing a second optically variable information item is molded and which is arranged above the volume hologram layer. A partial metallic layer is arranged between the volume hologram layer and the replication layer, wherein the metallic layer is provided in one or a plurality of first zones of the security element and the metallic layer is not provided in one or a plurality of second zones of the security element.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 2009Date of Patent: July 30, 2013Assignee: Leonhard Kurz Stiftung & Co. Patent number: 8476575Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system that provides a holographic layer as a micro-lens array and/or a color filter array in an imager. The method of writing the holographic layer results in overlapping areas in the hologram for corresponding adjacent pixels in the imager which increases collection of light at the pixels, thereby increasing quantum efficiency.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2011Date of Patent: July 2, 2013Assignee: Micron Technology, Inc.Inventor: Alexander Mokhnatyuk

Patent number: 7677462Abstract: A non-conductive carrier having a conductive component comprising a plurality of sections to disrupt the conductive component's conductive path. Each section is isolated from other sections such that a charge accumulated in one section cannot combine with the charge accumulated in another section, thereby minimizing any potential electrostatic discharge from the carrier.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 2006Date of Patent: March 16, 2010Assignee: JDS Uniphase CorporationInventors: John Hynes, John Kawand, Lily O'Boyle, Sundar Sadasivan, Leonardo Vincitore, Salvatore F. Patent number: 5684612Abstract: A hologram with a dynamically controlled diffraction efficiency and enhanced signal-to-noise ratio is recorded in ferroelectric photorefractive materials, such as strontium barium niobate (Sr.sub.x Ba.sub.1-x Nb.sub.2 O.sub.6) (SBN), BSTN, SCNN, PBN, BSKNN, BaTiO.sub.3, LiNbO.sub.3, KNbO.sub.3, KTN, PLZT and the tungsten bronze family. The diffraction efficiency of the hologram is dynamically controlled by applying an electric field along the polar axis of the ferroelectric photorefractive recording medium. Electrically controlled diffraction is used in conjunction with hologram fixing and operation of the material at a temperature in the vicinity of or above its Curie temperature to additionally provide prolonged, low-noise readout. The general methods for recording and reconstructing a hologram (or a set of multiplexed holograms) using these techniques is disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 1995Date of Patent: November 4, 1997Assignee: Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior UniversityInventors: Jeffrey P.
