A pair of semi-rigid uprights extend along lateral and medial sides of the jacket. The jacket terminates in lateral and medial flaps that overlap one another at the rear of the patient's lower leg. A footplate is rotatably secured adjacent the lower portion of the jacket for supporting the foot while the jacket is wrapped around the tibia. A narrow slotted opening at the lower front portion of the jacket permits the jacket to be applied from front to rear when wrapping the jacket around the lower leg while the patient's foot is held against rotation when placing the patient's foot on the footplate. The lateral and medial end portions of the jacket overlap uniformly around the patient's calf.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 1984Date of Patent: May 13, 1986Assignee: United States Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Ted J. Patent number: 4526828Abstract: A protective material for use in articles of apparel such as golves, leggings, sleeves, aprons and the like. The protective material comprises a base layer composed of textile material, an intermediate layer composed of a cut-resistant material having intermeshing strands defining pores therebetween and an outer layer composed of solid, elastomeric material which retards penetration by liquid. The elastomeric material covers and is bonded to the base layer which prevents passage entirely therethrough by liquid, elastomeric material but permits partial penetration. The solid, elastomeric material extends through the pores of the intermediate layer and encapsulates the strands thereof. A method for producing the protective material comprises dipping an article composed of base layer and intermediate layer into a bath of liquid, elastomeric material preferably after absorbing into the base layer a coagulant for the liquid elastomeric material.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 1983Date of Patent: July 2, 1985Assignee: Pioneer Industrial Products CompanyInventors: Kenneth E.
