Patent number: 10932516Abstract: The footwear can be convertible between a shoe configuration and a sandal configuration. A flexible front vamp portion can be elevated into an upwardly flexed and elevated position so it creates a cavity, in conjunction with the footwear upper portion, to receive the foot of the wearer to provide a shoe configuration. In particular, the toes of the wearer can reside in the cavity portion formed by the flexible front vamp portion. For conversion to a sandal configuration, the midsole can be removed from the outer sole and the front vamp portion can be downwardly flexed so that it collapses and then nests into the outer sole. The midsole can be replaced back into the outer sole, with the front vamp portion captured between the midsole and the outer sole, so the footwear can function as a sandal with the wearer's toes exposed.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 2019Date of Patent: March 2, 2021Inventor: Patrick Hogan

Patent number: 9127914Abstract: A blast deflecting boot has a V like shaped sole, a layer to reduce and to stop high velocity fragments, a padded core that limits the blast forces transmitted to the lower leg of a soldier, and an upper of high velocity blast fragment reducing fabric. The invention provides the sole within a layer of non-slip urethane that contains energy absorbing foam, a layer of high velocity fragment reducing para-aramid or ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene UHMWPE fabric, and a core of closed cell single or multiple density high energy absorbing foam or silicone that absorbs impact forces. The insole has a high velocity fragment reducing layer system of multiple layers of UHMWPE, or para-aramid. The sole of the present invention may have a unitary form or be assembled from multiple sections.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2013Date of Patent: September 8, 2015Inventor: David J. Millar

Patent number: 8657767Abstract: An orthopedic boot has two leg supports connected adjustably to a foot support via two joint assemblies. Each joint assembly has a securing panel, a connecting panel, a guide panel, two limiting members and two holding members. The securing panel is mounted securely on the foot support and has two engaging grooves each having engaging cavities. The connecting panel is mounted securely to one leg support and is pivotally connected to the securing panel. The limiting members has a resilient segment, an engaging pin and a locking tab. The engaging pin is mounted slidably in one of the engaging grooves, engages one of the engaging cavities and selectively abuts the connecting panel. The locking tab is spaced from a periphery of the guide panel to define a locking gap. The holding members are held respectively in the locking gaps and abut respectively against the locking tabs.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 2010Date of Patent: February 25, 2014Inventor: Shu-Chen Chan

Publication number: 20120324759Abstract: A soccer shoe absorbs and stores energy from the foot at foot-strike and return some of this energy to the object being struck. The shoe may also cushion the foot, leg and body; provide foot stability and motion control; reduce fatigue; extend the float time of a runner and increase the jump height of the wearer. The shoe is intended to absorb, store and return energy to the object struck, which would otherwise be lost using the existing shoe components and inserts. The shoe has a vertical component that extends around the periphery of the front of the shoe and another component (horizontal) that extends longitudinally from the front of the shoe towards the back of the shoe, at least to about the middle of the shoe, and preferably proximate the heel of the shoe.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 30, 2012Publication date: December 27, 2012Inventor: J. Publication number: 20120304494Abstract: An aluminum shoe. An aluminum outer sole has a top side, a bottom side and at least two bends to follow the contour of a wearer's foot. An aluminum heel is welded to the bottom of the aluminum outer sole. A flexible, cushioned inner sole is glued to the top side of the aluminum outer sole. A foot retention means for holding the foot onto the inner sole is connected to the inner sole. In a preferred embodiment a front heel and a rear heel are welded to the bottom side of the outer sole. Also, in a preferred embodiment, three bends are placed into the outer sole to better follow the contour of the wearer's foot.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 4, 2012Publication date: December 6, 2012Inventor: William Allen Hobson

Publication number: 20010022039Abstract: A metatarsal protector for footwear consists of a body molded from resilient plastics material, thus facilitating walking and kneeling, the material being sufficiently flexible that it can be molded flat and bent to the required saddle shape when it is incorporated into the footwear close against the upper inner surface. The range of hardness required for the material is comparatively narrow, so that it is sufficiently flexible, but can still meet certification requirements, and as measured by a Durometer A test is between 35 and 50 Shore. The protector comprises a plurality of integral ridged projections protruding from one surface, forming between themselves a corresponding plurality of open-mouthed recesses, each of which is surrounded by a single projection (e.g. giving a circular recess) or by a plurality thereof intersecting one another (e.g. giving rectangular or triangular recesses). When an impact force is applied to the metatarsal region the resilient material deforms and absorbs the force.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 20, 2001Publication date: September 20, 2001Inventor: Dezi A.
