    Abstract: A buffer memory controller comprises a first memory configured to buffer write operation data between a write head and a second memory that stores write operation data corresponding to first and second write operations. A first memory location identifies a location of write operation data that corresponds to the first write operation stored within the second memory. A second memory location identifies a location of write operation data that corresponds to the second write operation stored within the second memory. Controller logic determines whether the first write operation and the second write operation write data to the same track. The controller logic transfers the data of the first write operation and the second write operation in an order other than the order in which the second memory received the first and second write operations when the first write operation and the second write operation write data to the same track.

In the dubbing apparatus, for passing output data read from a CD through a CD drive for compression of the data and transferring the compressed data for recording to an HD drive, an HD TOC being breakpoint information is generated based on specified information indicative of a track break of output data read from the HD drive. The HD drive generates a FAT based on the HD TOC. In the HD drive, the dubbed data can be managed per track accurately and properly without having to monitor any information indicative of each track break such as sub Q data synchronously with a stream of dubbing data.

As a first step, various segments of a digital song or video work are identified, preferably in terms of their starting and ending times. Given the defined loops or video clips, the user next forms a remix of the selected song/video work using those components. The final product, i.e., the resulting remix, can then be completely specified in terms of the loop/clip definitions together with the time at which each of the defined loops/clips appears in the final mix. The remix can thus be compactly stored as a computer file.

    Abstract: As a tape recording format, tracks are formed by a succession of block units, and a data unit called a group is formed by data of size equivalent to a predetermined plurality of tracks. Using this format, a base group number indicating the group to which the current track physically belongs is recorded in the ID information for a track, and the lower four bits or similar of a group number indicating the group to which the current block logically belongs is recorded within a block. By this means, even if rewriting is performed in block units and a recorded state results in which the blocks of a plurality of groups are intermixed within a track, the group to which each block belongs can be correctly identified during reproduction.

A broadcasting a system determination unit 10 determines the broadcasting system based on the counting result of the CTL signals during one frame that has been counted by the CTL signal counting unit 9.

Hereby, if a signal recorded on a recording track of the tape-like storage medium is processed and replaced, the signal recorded on the recording track of the tape-like storage medium can be satisfactorily reproduced without being influenced by signal recording operation and signal erasing operation.

In this method, a first track is reserved in an optical medium. Additionally, a first track gap after the first track is reserved in the optical medium. The boot catalog includes a first pointer to the location of the boot image. Further, the boot catalog and the boot image are written so that the boot image is written contiguously without interruption. Preferably, the second track is written in a track-at-once mode to ensure that the boot image is written without interruption. Alternatively, the second track and the second track may be written in a streaming mode in a single packet after writing the first track and track gap.

Search data areas of each track set are disposed at a position of each track which is separated from the edge of a tape by a predetermined distance. In search speed reproduction, the phases of the tracks and the heads are controlled, and all effective data of the search data areas are reproduced by plural scans of the heads.
