Abstract: A head drum assembly of a tape recorder in which an inner race and an outer race of an upper bearing are press-fitted onto a shaft and a rotary drum, respectively, thereby applying a preload. A resilient body, such as a compressed coil spring, is disposed between a lower bearing disposed between the rotary drum and the shaft and a stationary drum. The resilient body upwardly presses the inner race of the lower bearing, thereby applying a preload. Accordingly, the head drum assembly of the tape recorder provides enhanced assembling efficiency and reduced manufacturing costs.
Abstract: A rotary head drum apparatus includes a stator drum. A rotary drum is provided with a plurality of magnetic heads and rotates the magnetic heads. The rotary drum is mounted for rotational movement with respect to the stator drum. A rotary transformer includes a stator-side rotary transformer provided on the stator drum and a rotating-side rotary transformer fixed to the rotary drum. The stator-side rotary transformer and the rotating-side rotary transformer are adapted to send and receive signals to each other. An adhesive providing gap is disposed between the rotating-side rotary transformer and the rotary drum for receiving an adhesive for bonding the rotating-side rotary transformer to the rotary drum. An adhesive splashing prevention part is provided on the rotating-side rotary transformer and receives adhesive splashing from the adhesive providing gap.
Abstract: Disclosed is a head drum assembly of a tape recorder. An elastic body is mounted between upper and lower bearings as preloading means, in which the upper and lower bearings are interposed between a rotary drum and the shaft. As a result, the elastic body elastically biases the inner races of the upper and lower bearings upwardly and downwardly, respectively, whereby preload can be applied to each of the upper and lower bearings.

Abstract: According to a first aspect the present invention is related to a head drum arrangement allowing a much easier mounting of the rotary transformer. The head drum arrangement comprises a non-rotating lower drum and a rotating upper drum, which are connected by a shaft fixed in the lower drum. The upper drum is mounted on the shaft by a bearing and preferably by two ball bearings. A rotary transformer is arranged between the lower drum and the upper drum having a fixed stator and a rotor rotating jointly with the upper drum. The rotor is non-positively held in its position by the magnetic force of a permanent magnet accommodated in the upper drum.
