Abstract: An internal structure of an apparatus using a loading motor such as a video cassette recorder or a camcoder and, more particularly, a loading worm guide apparatus is provided and includes a bracket structure for preventing a worm gear, which has received an axial thrust while being driven by a loading motor, from being disengaged. A conventional loading worm guide apparatus cannot adaptively adjust to the change of the state of a loading worm since a bracket is fixed to a main chassis. In contrast, the present loading worm guide apparatus interposes an elastic member between a bracket and a main chassis and can adjust a distance between the loading worm and the bracket by tightening or loosening a screw.

Abstract: A tape loading mechanism can reduce a load imposed upon a tape by removing conventional inclined guides and reduce the number of assemblies necessary for forming a tape transport system. The tape transport system of the tape loading mechanism is composed of four guide members of a tension regulator guide (9) for supporting a tape unreeled from a supply reel (1), a guide post (12) having a shuttle for guiding the tape into the entrance side of a rotary drum (14), a guide post (13) having a shuttle for guiding the tape into the exit side of the rotary drum (14), and an exit guide (21) for guiding the tape into a take-up reel (3). The tension regulator guide (9) and the exit guide (21) are formed as inclined guides having flanges in order to twist the tape supported by the respective guides so that a tape transport direction and a tape height direction can be varied. Thus, the inclined guide member with the shuttle can be removed.

Abstract: As a method of increasing the storage capacity of a magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus for recording and reproducing information to and from a magnetic tape in a cartridge, there is a helical scan recording method in which the magnetic tape is diagonally wound around a drum which rotates a magnetic head. With an apparatus adapted to this method, the disposition of the cartridge and the take-up reel for taking up the magnetic tape on the same plane arises a necessity of considerably bending the magnetic tape at the drum portion and, accordingly, the magnetic tape is damaged. In order to prevent the damage of the foregoing type, the tape passage surface from the cartridge to the drum and the tape passage from the drum to the take-up reel are formed by an angle at which the direction in which the magnetic tape is moved is changed due to winding of the magnetic tape around the drum so that the magnetic tape is not bent excessively.

  • Patent number: 5646798
Abstract: A translatable capstan/tachometer assembly for use, for example, in transporting a magnetic media in a data record/reproduce apparatus, includes a capstan rotatably coupled to a tachometer unit. The assembly is supported for movement from an initial, unthreaded media position within a threading cavity of a data cassette, to a threaded or locked working position. The media path is arranged so that moving the capstan/tachometer assembly into the threaded position causes the media to wrap around the capstan with a substantial wrap angle. In play, record, jog or variable speed operational modes, movement is provided between a motor/disc assembly and the capstan/tachometer assembly to rotatably drive the capstan. In a high speed shuttle mode, the motor/disc assembly is disengaged but the capstan/tachometer assembly remains in contact with the media, thereby still providing tape speed information via the integral tachometer unit.

Abstract: A reel brake device in a recording and reproducing apparatus is operated by a tape loading mechanism. A cam portion is formed on any one side of at least one of a pair of loading gears employed for driving a pair of tape guide units which draw a tape from the cassette. The reel brake for braking the reels includes a friction member for braking the supply reel table and an operating portion which comes into contact with a cam surface and a cam protrusion surface of the cam portion selectively so that it may be driven. Under a tape unloading condition, the reel brake performs braking or releasing operation of the reels as the loading gear rotates in a predetermined direction. Driving of the reel brake by the existing loading gear without using any separate driving element, makes it possible to maintain the brake stroke, enhance the accuracy in operation, and reduce the number of elements constituting the supply reel brake device.
