Abstract: An exciting voltage arithmetic portion calculates an exciting voltage of an electromagnet using a signal of a gap sensor. On the other hand, a sensorless exciting voltage arithmetic portion calculates an exciting voltage of the electromagnet using a signal of the current sensor. The exciting voltage adjusting portion adjusts a mixing ratio between an output value of an exciting voltage arithmetic portion and an output value of the sensorless exciting voltage arithmetic portion corresponding to a gap length. The excitation of the electromagnet is controlled according to an output value of the exciting voltage adjusting portion so as to reduce influences of noises on the gap sensors thereby always achieving a stable levitation control.

Abstract: A fabrication process produces markers for a magnetomechanical electronic article surveillance system. The marker includes a magnetomechanical element comprising one or more resonator strips of magnetostrictive amorphous metal alloy; a housing having a cavity sized and shaped to accommodate the resonator strips for free mechanical vibration therewithin; and a non-deactivatable bias magnet adapted to magnetically bias the magnetomechanical element. The process employs adaptive control of the cut length of the resonator strips, correction of the length being based on deviation of the actual marker resonant frequency from a preselected, target marker frequency. Use of adaptive, feedback control advantageously results in a much tighter distribution of actual resonant frequencies. Also provided is a web-fed press for continuously producing such markers with adaptive control of the resonator strip length.

Abstract: Disclosed is a magnetic bearing system capable of simplifying a demodulation operation and reducing a processing load associated with a magnetic levitation control. A carrier signal having a frequency fc is apply to a sensor through a filter. The sensor operates to modulate the carrier signal, and a difference amplifier operates to calculate a difference between the amplitude-modulated signal FAM (t) and a sensor reference signal Fstd (t). An A/D converter operates to A/D convert a difference signal Fsub (t) output from the difference amplifier to a discretized sensor signal. In the A/D conversion, a sampling frequency fs is set to satisfy the following relation: fc: fc=n·fs or fc=fs/2 (n is a natural number). Thus, the discretized sensor signal includes no carrier wave, and therefore a demodulation operation which has been previously essential can be simplified.

The calculator calculates an estimated transfer function composed of estimated values of a transfer function for a transfer system including the electromagnetic actuator and the driver. The judging device judges an inoperative malfunction of the electromagnetic actuator based the estimated transfer function.

Abstract: A woodworking machine including a detection system adapted to detect a dangerous condition between a person and a working portion of the machine is disclosed. The machine includes a reaction system associated with the detection system to cause a predetermined action to take place relative to the working portion upon detection of the dangerous condition. A motion detection system is adapted to detect motion of the working portion and to disable the reaction system when the working portion is not moving. The motion detection system may sense whether motion in a machine has stopped by monitoring the back emf produced on the motor leads as the motor coasts to a stop. The woodworking machine may take the form of a saw, the working portion may be a blade adapted to cut when spinning, and the dangerous condition may be a person contacting the blade.

Abstract: To provide a magnetic bearing device capable of reducing vibration by preventing a deterioration in the control of a rotor shaft due to a variation in the axial position of the rotor shaft, while performing positional control over the rotor shaft in a specific attitude with optimal magnetic force, and to a turbo molecular pump with the magnetic bearing device mounted thereto. A sensitivity storage section 281 stores therein a sensor sensitivity used in a sensor sensitivity adjustment. The sensitivity storage section 281 outputs the stored sensor sensitivity to a sensitivity switching section. Abstract: A stator is constructed by winding excitation coils around respective main poles. A rotor is constructed by fixing a first rotor unit, which consists of a pair of rotor cores and a magnetic material sandwiched between the rotor cores, and a second rotor unit, which has the same construction as the first rotor unit, to a rotation shaft. The rotor is assembled to the stator to form an assembled body. The magnet material of the first rotor unit is magnetized in the axial direction by a magnetizing flux passing through a half of the assembled body in the axial direction. The magnet material of the second rotor unit is magnetized in the axial direction in an opposite polarity by a magnetizing flux passing through the remaining half of the assembled body in the axial direction.

  • Patent number: 7242157
Abstract: The magnetic flux of a magnetic body is controlled with voltage pulses from an active voltage source. The voltage pulses are applied to a winding circuit which is magnetically coupled to the magnetic body. An electronic switch means is used to generate the voltage pulses from a d-c power supply. A control circuit receives information about the winding current, and utilizes known loop impedances to optimize the voltage pulses for optimal magnetic control. Utilizing voltage pulses rather than a continuously variable voltage source has the advantage of lower cost and improved energy efficiency for many applications. The invention may be utilized for measurement of a-c current and d-c current utilizing ordinary current transformers. The switched-voltage control that is disclosed also may be used to facilitate accurate measurement of a-c current in a self-powered manner, with the power supply for the electronics deriving its power from the current transformer secondary circuit.

  • Patent number: 7196894
Abstract: The method according to the invention for demagnetization is effected in two separate steps. Firstly magnetically hard locations, such as weld seams, pressure locations etc., of an object to be demagnetized is pre-treated locally with high fields by way of choke coils in an alternating field. These magnetically hard locations are at least partly demagnetized by way of this. Subsequently the complete demagnetization is effected in a decisive second step. The object remains for a certain time in an alternating field. Now the alternating field is stepped down in that the current in a series oscillation circuit is stepped down in a current-controlled manner with two coils.
