  • Patent number: 7075779
Abstract: The invention relates to a voltage transformer (1) including a housing (12) which encloses, at least partially, a mains plug (3, 4) connectable to a mains voltage source, a terminal plug (8) connectable to a terminal, and a voltage-transforming circuit, said housing (12) comprising a first housing component (2) and a second housing component (6) movably connected to said first housing component (2) by a guide means and implemented as a reception means (9) for receiving therein the terminal, and said voltage transformer (1) being adapted to be moved from a transport position to a charging position. In order to improve the handiness of the voltage transformer (1) during charging and, in particular, during transport, the present invention is so conceived that, at the transport position, the housing components (2, 6) have been moved relative to one another such that the space occupied at the transport position is smaller than that occupied at the charging position.

  • Patent number: 6696925
Abstract: A mobile metering system (MMS) comprises a trailer-mounted fully-enclosed three-phase set of current transformers (CTs) and power transformers (PTs), and a metering interface. The instrument transformers reduce the source voltage to a meterable level. The MMS enclosure enables a single utility work crew to connect source-side power bushings mounted on the roof of the MMS to conductors from a compatible source, such as the secondary side of a substation transformer, without the need for a bucket truck. Load-side power bushings are also mounted on the roof of the MMS for connection to the power distribution network. An electromagnetic locking system prevents access to the interior of the enclosure while the MMS is energized. A rigid ground grid mounted on the roof of the MMS grounds the insulators, a ground loop grounds the CTs and PTs, and both the ground grid and the ground loop are connected to the earth ground.

  • Patent number: 6215653
Abstract: A modular electrical substation for erection at a prepared site has a horizontal steel base formed of interconnected longitudinal and transverse beams and is set on the prepared site. An open top oil containment pan is centrally supported on the base and receives an electrical transformer therein. A pair of vertically extending frameworks formed of steel columns and connecting cross members are mounted on opposite ends of the base. One or more bays of circuit breakers and disconnect switches are supported on the base and frameworks. Incoming and outgoing conductors are dead ended on one or both of the frameworks which are connected by guy wires extending therebetween to distribute the conductor tension among the two frameworks. The central location of the transformer maintains the base in position on the prepared site avoiding the need for additional anchoring and/or foundations enabling the substation to be removable and reusable.
