The cabinet contains, behind the door, a protective cover which protects the electronic control system and the power system which are disposed behind it. When the door is open, the protective cover protects users from the control and power systems.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a combination service entrance device which contains a common enclosure that is divided by a center barrier into a first section for housing a watt-hour meter socket and a second section for housing a panel board containing at least two service disconnects. The meter socket provides power for use at least two output terminals. A separate connector having at least two connection points in a first plane and at least one connection point in a second plane is coupled to each of the socket meter output terminals. Substantially flexible insulated conductors are coupled to the connection points in the connectors and the service disconnects to provide power to the service disconnects.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a connector bar for making electrical connections to terminals having a lug body with an externally accessible interior cavity and a binding screw. The connector bar includes an elongated body having two ends and made of electrically conductive material. At least one of the ends having a solid cross-section with a configuration which creates less distortion in the sides of the lug body compared to a round cross-section configuration when the binding screw contacts the end with torque applied for making the pre-determined mechanical and electrical connection. Preferably, the cross-section configuration of the end is defined by a flat top surface larger in width than the contact area of the binding screw, two arcuate sides having an arc value approximately the same as the interior cavity of the lug body, and a flat bottom surface smaller in width than the top surface.

    Abstract: A power bus is described that connects a matrix of power supplies to a circuit board in a computer system. The power bus is substantially planar and attached to the circuit board so that the power bus and circuit board are parallel to one another. This parallel relationship decreases the amount of space utilized by the circuit board in the computer system. The circuit board also has connectors for delivering power directly to a load which increases the efficiency of power delivery.

    Abstract: A motor control unit for use in an electrical enclosure is provided, the motor control unit includes a connector stab assembly of a molded plastic housing having a base portion, at least one jaw connector cover extending from one side of the base portion and a corresponding bar cover extending from the other side of the base portion opposite the jaw connector. The jaw connector cover includes a pair of opposing u-shaped sidewall members. A metal bar is provided having a first end extending through the base into the jaw connector cover and a second end extending through the bar cover. The second end of the metal bar is adapted for connection to a wire conductor. A pair of jaw fingers extend from the first end of the metal bar and are partially enclosed in the jaw connector cover and are adapted to secure to a vertical bus bar. A pair of spring members are secured to the first end of the metal bar and engage each one of the jaw fingers for biasing the jaw fingers toward each other.

    Abstract: A low inductance bus bar arrangement suitable for industrial voltage levels, and for power applications contains two or more elongate electrical conducting bars having rounded edges. Strips of dielectric insulating material are located between two of the elongate electrical conducting bars. The conducting bars are oriented in substantially parallel relationship to one another with the dielectric insulating material having a height of the cross-section thereof substantially greater than the height of the cross-section of the conducting bars. The bus bar arrangement also provides low inductance to the connecting devices.

    Abstract: The present invention provides an electrical distribution board and meter socket assembly. The distribution board includes a framework for a meter compartment which is partially defined by a side panels, a bottom electrically insulating barrier and by a bus. The distribution board also includes an opening through each side panel and between each side face of the framework and the bottom barrier. The opening is of sufficient size to allow electrical connections therethrough. An L-shaped insulating barrier connects to the bottom barrier and is disposed in front of the bus. The meter socket assembly includes a socket pan, a socket molding assembly for an electrical meter, a test block assembly, and a plurality of load terminals adapted for electrically connecting to branch lines which overlap one another and extend from the load terminals in a direction generally parallel to the bottom edge. The meter socket assembly also includes a plurality of line terminals adapted for electrically connecting to line bars.

    Abstract: A panelboard (30) for distribution of electrical power from a feed line to branch power lines having at least one neutral/bus support assembly (44), with at least one insulating member (100) having a locating pin (52, 54, 56) projecting therefrom. The assembly (44) has a conductive neutral tie strap (70) attached to the insulating member (100) for conduction of neutral phase current. The strap (70) provides attachment points (124) for a neutral lug (39), and for structural support of the neutral/bus support assembly (44) in conjunction with the insulating member (100). At least one neutral rail (68) is connected to the neutral tie strap (70). The panelboard (30) has at least one busbar (46, 48, 50) disposed over the neutral/bus support assembly (44), defining a hole (151) therein for capture therein of a locating pin (52, 54, 56). The busbars (46, 48, 50) are adapted for transferring electrical power from a feed line to a line end of a branch circuit breaker (36) which is connectable to the busbar.

    Abstract: A junction box incorporating an integrally formed shunt busbar. The shunt busbar incorporates a first pair of terminals to act as leads to couple the shunt busbar in a current loop of a circuit, and a second pair of terminals to couple a voltage sensing device across a portion of the shunt busbar. The voltage sensing device is preferably a high input impedance voltage comparator. The input impedance of the voltage comparator is great enough to negate the affect of the internal resistance of the mating terminals of the busbar. Furthermore, the second pair of terminals is located on the shunt busbar such that the terminal resistances thereof are outside of the current loop. The electrical busbar is preferably mounted in a suitable insulating housing. When the shunt busbar of the present invention is connected to the high input impedance voltage comparator, a circuit path that allows for easily and accurately measuring the voltage drop across the busbar is made possible.

    Abstract: The present invention provides an interior assembly for an electrical distribution device having at least one bus bar integrally formed with branch stabs for electrically connecting to terminals extending from a plurality of circuit interrupters. The assembly includes a generally planar support base having a front face and back face for mounting bus bars. A cover for the front face and a back shield for the back face of the support base have sufficient size to substantially cover the bus bars. The cover and back shield include means for securing the body to the device so that the position of the cover prevents contact between the bus bar and a person's finger or equipment particularly when an individual circuit interrupter is mounted to the device.
