  • Patent number: 7978458
Abstract: A locking device for an electric switch is disclosed which is movably guided in a withdrawable rack via an actuating shaft wherein the electric switch is placed in a preferred position, in particular in a disconnected position. In at least one embodiment, the locking device is movable from a release position in which the switch is displaceable in the withdrawable rack to a locking position in which the locking device blocks the switch displacement in a predetermined direction and the actuating shaft is actuated via an actuating crank. In order to safe the switch locking in the preferred position thereof, the locking device is movable to the locking position when the actuating crank actuation is blocked, only. • Patent number: 7511470
Abstract: An electronic meter tamper detection system and method for sensing the removal of an electricity meter from a meter socket and generating a tamper signal when such removal is detected. The tamper detection circuit includes a control unit having an energy storage device that is charged during normal operation of the electricity meter. When power is interrupted to the electricity meter, the control unit applies a charging voltage to a voltage regulating device within the electricity meter. The voltage regulating device can be charged only when the electricity meter is installed within the meter socket. After applying the charging voltage to the voltage regulating device, the control unit senses whether the voltage regulating device has been charged. If the voltage regulating device has not been charged, the control unit indicates that the meter has been removed from the meter socket.

  • Patent number: 7343496
Abstract: A high security microcontroller (such as in a point of sale terminal) includes tamper control circuitry for detecting vulnerability conditions: a write to program memory before the sensitive financial information has been erased, a tamper detect condition, the enabling of a debugger, a power-up condition, an illegal temperature condition, an illegal supply voltage condition, an oscillator fail condition, and a battery removal condition. If the tamper control circuitry detects a vulnerability condition, then the memory where the sensitive financial information could be stored is erased before boot loader operation or debugger operation can be enabled. Upon power-up if a valid image is detected in program memory, then the boot loader is not executed and secure memory is not erased but rather the image is executed. The tamper control circuitry is a hardware state machine that is outside control of user-loaded software and is outside control of the debugger.

  • Patent number: 5880927
Abstract: A fastener for a reverse fed panelboard circuit breaker is taught. Briefly stated, a resilently deformable pivoting member is disposed between side barrier fins in a two pole panelboard breaker. A pin at one end of the fastener is placed through a screw hole which is contained in the panelboard and disposed between the side barriers of the panelboard breaker, with the fastener rotatably urged towards the breaker so as to, when fully rotated causes the breaker retention tab to be urged against the panelboard retention hook and also for the fastener to lay against and come in contact with the edge of the panelboard breaker thereby preventing removal of the breaker without first removing the fastener.

  • Patent number: 5731763
Abstract: An access controller for a television, computer or display device includes a wireless transmitter and a receiving unit. The receiving unit has a tamper-proof housing that covers the device power line and protects receiving and switching circuitry. The receiving circuitry receives and demodulates a control signal sent by the transmitter, and drives the switching circuitry between ON and OFF states. In a preferred embodiment, the housing has opposed halves which close about the device plug. A pigtail line cord extends from the housing and provides power through the switch, to the device plug. The housing itself is featureless, and the transmitter is an inconspicuous, pocketable, push-button device, so the TV or other device may be controlled without physically approaching or otherwise revealing either the nature of the control mechanism or even that the operator is exercising control.
