  • Patent number: 5999411
Abstract: A protection assembly for connectors is included on a circuit pack to prevent damage caused when a connector is removed while signal power is still being supplied to the circuit pack. More specifically, the protection assembly is disposed on the front side of the circuit pack to prevent access to the connector until signal power is automatically cut off from the circuit pack. In one embodiment, the circuit pack is the type having a lever arrangement capable of causing the circuit pack to engage and disengage the backplane of an equipment frame. When the circuit pack is engaged in the backplane, signal power is supplied through the connector that is accessible, for example, on the face plate of the circuit pack. The protection assembly includes a first shield member mounted on the face plate of the circuit pack in a location adjacent to the connector. The protection assembly further includes a second shield member mounted or otherwise formed on the lever arrangement.

  • Patent number: 5737195
Abstract: The present invention provides a neutral base module for an interior assembly of an electrical distribution device having a plurality of modules. The neutral base module connects the electrical distribution device to a circuit having at least one phase and includes a generally rectangular body having a mounting surface. The body demountably secures to at least one adjacent module of the interior assembly with a manually operated securement which is integrally formed with the modular housing. A terminal for making an electrical connection abuts the mounting surface of the body. An electrically insulating shield having sufficient size to substantially isolate the body from the adjacent module of the interior assembly abuts the body and terminal. The terminal is releasably retained to abut the mounting surface and the shield between the body and the adjacent module.

  • Patent number: 5627721
Abstract: A surge protection cartridge adapted for use with a double-sided modular connector block system. The protector cartridge advantageously mounts in the front or rear of a connector module of the connector block in a variety of orientations in order to protect an entire row of terminations on the block. Two L-shaped brackets adapted to couple to a mounting bracket of the connector block form an internal ground bus within the protector cartridge. The brackets include a series of cantilever connecting clips which couple directly to the surge protection devices. Spring contacts having similar cantilever clips couple the remaining leads of the surge protection devices and the terminals of the connecting block which are to be protected. Each individual spring contacts is seated within an individual insulated well of the cartridge housing.

  • Patent number: 5541802
Abstract: The invention relates to a magazine arrangement for enabling one or more printed circuit boards to be held in the magazine but readily removable therefrom, wherein the circuit boards are disposed side-by-side and can be inserted into and withdrawn from the magazine by virtue of each board having upper and lower edge-parts which coact with upper and lower grooves in the magazine. Each board carries on its edge that faces inwardly of the magazine one part of a connecting element which is intended to be brought into and out of coaction with a second part of the connecting element, this latter part being located on the backplane of the magazine. The two parts of the connecting element are each provided with a corresponding connecting device, wherein devices are provided for damping transient voltages that occur within board-mounted and/or board-connected electrical and/or electronic components, among other things, when a normalized voltage is applied to said components.
