  • Patent number: 9773633
Abstract: Method and apparatus for mounting fuses in switchgear and similar electrical isolation equipment provide a nonconductive fuse support that allows the fuses to be mounted separately from the transformers. Two such fuse supports may be used to support a fuse, one fuse support for each fuse terminal. Each fuse support may support two fuse terminals so dual fuses may be supported by the same pair of fuse supports. The fuse supports substantially surround the fuse terminals to provide an insulating barrier that helps prevent electrical discharge and also ensure sufficient spacing between the fuse terminals and ground or other conductors in the switchgear. Such an arrangement allows the fuses and transformers to fit within a reduced space in the switchgear and similar electrical isolation equipment while complying with industry-standard performance requirements. The fuse supports are preferably noncontiguous, thereby leaving the nonconductive portion of the fuse physically unsurrounded.

The second end of the programmable element may be coupled to an external package connection (e.g., a package pin) and/or to an internal package node that connects to an input terminal of the integrated circuit die when the integrated circuit die is mounted in the package. The information programmed by the fuses may relate to speed or voltage ratings for a microprocessor.

Abstract: A fuse includes a fuse element contained in an insulating housing made of synthetic resin. The insulating housing which includes a pair of housing bodies and an upper wall portion mutually connecting upper ends of the housing bodies is adapted to cover inner edges and upper edges of flat plate terminal portions and a fusible portion. On one side edge of a slit opening formed at a lower end of the insulating housing, a flap is continuously provided through a thin-walled hinge so as to freely rotate. The flap is rotated to a closed position in a state where the fuse element has been inserted into the insulating housing, and locked to locking projections which are projected from the inner edges of the respective flat plate terminal portions. The distal end edge of the flap which is abutted against the other side edge of the slit opening is joined by ultrasonic welding, thermal welding or the like.

Abstract: A low current blow trim fuse structure and method of forming the trim fuse structure. Oxide steps are placed beneath a trim fuse during prior processing steps. The oxide steps will cause the metal (or polycrystal silicon (poly)) to thin at the point where the metal (or poly) transitions the step, and thus will reduce its cross-sectional area and current carrying capability, making it easier to program the fuse. The oxide steps will serve a further purpose in that, to some extent, it will thermally isolate the trim fuse, thereby causing local heating, making the fuse easier to blow.
