  • Patent number: 9271343
Abstract: A head lamp assembly wearable by a user or attachable to an object comprising a substrate, a first light source, a second light source, and a sensor. The sensor can turn the first and second light sources ON when light striking the sensor falls below a predetermined intensity level. The sensor can turn the first and second light sources OFF when light striking the sensor exceeds a predetermined intensity level. An override switch can allow user to keep the light sources either completely illuminated or obfuscated, irrespective of the sensor.

  • Patent number: 9173437
Abstract: A personal protection system for providing a sterile barrier around medical/surgical personnel. The system includes a helmet over which a hood or a toga suspended. The helmet has a chin bar that extends forward of the face of the individual wearing the system. At least one manually actuated control for regulating one aspect of operation of the system is mounted to the chin bar. Sometimes the control is a button that is depressed to control the operation of a helmet mounted fan that draws air into the hood or toga. A microphone may also be mounted to the chin bar.

  • Patent number: 9161584
Abstract: An illuminated head-gear assembly includes a cap that may be worn on a user's head. A retainer is removably coupled to the cap. A brim is removably coupled to the retainer. A strap is removably coupled to the cap to adjust a size of the cap. A first sleeve is positionable on the brim to alter an appearance of the brim. A front light emitter is coupled to the cap so the front light emitter emits light. A top light emitter is coupled to the cap so the top light emitter emits light. A motion sensor is coupled to the cap. The motion sensor is operationally coupled to the front and top light emitters so the motion sensor selectively actuates the front and top light emitters. An actuator is coupled to the cap. The actuator is operationally coupled to the motion sensor so the actuator actuates the motion sensor.

Abstract: Using a control system for automatically switching power between a first light source attached to a welding shield pivotally mounted to an adjustable headband, and a second light source attached to the headband, a method for alternating power to the light sources includes steps (a) raising the shield to the uppermost rotational position resulting in power on to the second light source, the second light source remaining on at the raised position, and (b) lowering the welding shield to the maximum allowable distance resulting in power off to the second light source immediately followed by power on to the first light source, the first light source remaining on at the lowered position.

  • Patent number: 9101174
Abstract: Headgear is provided having one or more electrical devices, such as light sources mounted thereto. The headgear includes a power source for providing power to the electrical devices and a motion sensing device, such that any operating electrical devices are shut off if the hat does not move within a predetermined time period to conserve the life of the power source. In one form, the motion sensing device is operable to reset a shut-off timer when movement of the headgear is detected by the motion sensor so that the light sources, for example, are not turned off when the headgear is worn with the light sources turned on. In this manner, the shut-off timer is constantly being reset when the headgear is worn to keep the shut-off timer from timing out and turning the light sources off.
