Abstract: A threshold lighting system for recreation vehicles and the like. The system includes a threshold with a first light cavity extending along one side of the threshold for emitting light inwardly into a recreational vehicle in a first direction generally parallel to the vehicle floor, and a second light cavity on the opposite side of the threshold for emitting light in a second direction down the stairs leading to the threshold. The light cavities are preferably part of an extrusion forming the threshold, and the threshold is typically part of a door frame assembly provided as a unit.

  • Patent number: 7824059
Abstract: A line of recessed low-glare lighting fixtures, known as HITC (hole-in-the-ceiling), provide an authentic architectural built-in appearance. A mounting unit is cast in plaster material with a vertical duct extending upwardly from a light-exit opening in a horizontal face flange that becomes plastered in place in the ceiling. The duct supports a light source and associated components above, producing a light beam of designated beam width, typically +/?45 degrees. From any room viewpoint outside the light beam, the only component of the fixture that is visible is the mounting unit, of which all visible regions, both internal and external, are made to have finish, appearance and texture that match and blend in harmoniously with the surface of the surrounding ceiling.

  • Patent number: 7775339
Abstract: In a passenger conveyor according to the present invention, an inlet safety device, an operation device, an operation condition display device, and a passenger detecting device are all received in a end-deck cover at an end of a balustrade panel. Thus, the passenger conveyor is excellent in design because of a simple appearance of a platform and a vicinity thereof. Since an inclined surface of the end-deck cover on which a display part of the operation condition display device is disposed is inclined to face an upper side of a center part of the platform, an observability by a passenger of the display part of the operation condition display device can be exceedingly enhanced.

Abstract: A baluster lighting assembly and method using illuminated intermediate baluster members in which balusters or pickets can be adjustably spaced along a power cord. A plurality of light sources mounted in each of a plurality of balusters or pickets are electrically connected to a power cable through connector housings mounted in each of the balusters or pickets. Each connector housing includes pierce connectors for penetrating the insulation of the power cable and coming into electrical, non-shorting contact with the power cable's live and ground wires along any selected location of the power cable.

Abstract: The invention discloses an illumination system having a first proximate detector with a first zone detector, which is capable of detecting the passing of a human body. Also part of the proximate detector is a first transmitter that is capable of sending a signal upon the activation of the first zone detector. The invention also has a first staircase illuminator capable of illuminating a first staircase area. Once the first zone detector is activated, the first transmitter sends a signal to a receiver on a second staircase illuminator, which is capable of illuminating a second staircase area. A second zone detector is included that is capable of detecting the passing of a human body, which also causes a second transmitter to send a signal to a receiver on the first staircase illuminator or any other staircase illuminator that is part of the illumination system. Included also is the second staircase illuminator that is capable of illuminating the second staircase area.

Abstract: Optical devices for guiding illumination are provided each having a body of optical material with staircase or acutely angled ramp structures on its top surface for distributing light inputted from one end of the device from the front exit faces of such structures along certain angular orientations, while at least a substantial portion of the light is totally internally reflected within the body until distributed from such front exit faces. Optical devices are also provided each have a body of optical material having a bottom surface with acutely angled ramp structures and falling structures which alternate with each other, such that light is totally internally reflected within the device until reflected by such ramp structures along the bottom surface to exit the top surface of the device or transmitted through the ramp structures to an adjacent falling structure back into the device.
