The lamp is selectively positioned by a rotatable knob carried by a lens of the assembly and positioned exteriorly at the front of the lens for operation. The rotatable knob connects with a shaft coupled by screw threads with a lamp engaging cylinder that is axially slideable in a tubular guideway such that rotational movement is translated to longitudinal movement to effect and control axial displacement of a lamp. The lamp is resiliently biased in a forward direction with respect to the lens.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 1982Date of Patent: August 6, 1985Inventor: James W. Gatton

Patent number: 4528622Abstract: A clamping device and holder therefor, and more specifically, a clamping light construction and a holder therefor whereby a light or article can be selectively supported in a variety of angular positions for any given fixed clamped position of the clamping device. Essentially, the clamping device includes a clamp or clip having a specially constructed holder for supporting a device or light in a variety of angular relationships. In one form of the invention, the holder comprises a tubular like member having a plurality of arcuate shaped opening for frictionally receiving and retaining a light device therein for selectively directing the light beam in any of several directions. In another form of the invention, the light or device is provided with one or more slides which are selectively engageable with a keyway connected to the clamping device for varying the angular position of the light or article relative to the clamping device.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1982Date of Patent: July 9, 1985Inventor: Joseph G. Patent number: 4521831Abstract: A pair of lamps are mounted on either side of a protective helmet on indexing tables that permit each lamp to be independently directed at a different target. Each lamp table is slidably received within a base section so that the lamp can be easily removed from the helmet. A utility band passes between the two base sections and is held therebetween by gripping bars mounted in each base section. The band is adapted so that articles can be carried thereupon.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 1984Date of Patent: June 4, 1985Inventor: John R. Thayer

Patent number: 4521835Abstract: A lightweight emergency lighting system capable of arrangement into various subjective configurations is provided. A housing member supports a plurality of individual lighting elements mounted on a common semi-rigid bus bar. The upper configuration of the housing members is capable of a directional transmission of light towards a predetermined field angle, while the lower configuration is adaptable for mounting the lighting elements. The upper housing member can have an interior surface of a prismatic configuration to provide a refraction and reflection of light in combination with the exterior surface. The lighting elements, such as L.E.D.'s, can be excited through a pulsing circuit to maximize the light output while conserving power from an auxiliary battery source.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 1983Date of Patent: June 4, 1985Assignee: Gulf & WesternInventors: Daniel H. Patent number: 4517627Abstract: A spot light which can be made very compactly for use in handbags or like receptacles is provided with a dry cell extending adjacent one edge wall of a housing, and a lamp bulb disposed in an opening in an end wall of the housing adjacent the opposite edge wall. A rear wall of the housing is provided with a pivotal connection for attaching the light to an upper corner of the inside wall of the receptacle, so that the light is readily accessible and can be rotated about its pivot to illuminate substantially the entire contents of the receptacle with a relatively bright concentrated spot of light. The pivotal connection offers frictional or other resistance to rotation, so that once adjusted, the light is retained stably in a selected position while the user retrieves a selected illuminated item from the receptacle.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 1984Date of Patent: May 14, 1985Inventor: Herbert G.
