Patent number: 6582097Abstract: A multi-function handheld device includes a casing unit, a torch unit, a mirror piece, a magnifying lens piece, a thermometer, and a compass. The casing unit includes lower and upper casing members. Rear casing parts of the casing members cooperatively confine an air inlet. The rear casing part of the lower casing member is further formed with an air outlet to permit generation of a whistling sound output. Front casing parts of the casing members are spaced apart so as to define a receiving slit for mounting the mirror and lens pieces pivotally therein. The casing unit further has receiving cavities for mounting the thermometer and the compass respectively therein. The torch unit is mounted in torch receiving chamber of the front casing part of the upper casing member, and includes a press member that is operable to make electrical connection between a lamp member and a battery set.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2001Date of Patent: June 24, 2003Inventor: Gin-Sung Chang

Publication number: 20030112624Abstract: The present invention is a pocket light that allows a user to view documents in a dark situation without having to hold a flashlight. The pocket light fits easily over the top of the pocket and can be covered by a conventional pocket flap. The light is an LED display device that produces a significant amount of light so a user could check identification or documentation, as in a license check, or registration verification for police. The pocket light has a push button power switch that can be activated by the user through the fabric of their shirt.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 13, 2002Publication date: June 19, 2003Inventor: Brian Quittner

Patent number: 6565232Abstract: Disclosed is a chassis having opposing major faces and an opening. The chassis is approximately the size of a commercial card, namely, a bankcard such as a credit card or a debit card, which are ubiquitous in modern society. A magnifying lens is disposed at the opening. The chassis carries a switch and a light. The light is capable of being actuated in response to actuation of the switch and is disposed so that it is capable of directing light away from the chassis so that objects can be magnified and illuminated.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2001Date of Patent: May 20, 2003Inventors: Steven H. Goldstein, Carol D. Goldstein, Mary Margaret Jelava-Risley, William Buell Risley

Publication number: 20030090899Abstract: A miniature flashlight consists of a housing, a light emitting diode (LED), a pair of batteries, and a flexible cover and a contact device that acts as both a momentary contact and a conventional switch. The LED is received in a seat formed in the housing with the head portion of the diode received in an aperture in the side wall of the housing. A longer contact arm is captured in a channel formed in the bottom wall. A shorter contact arm rests on a shoulder that forms part of the LED seat. A pair of coin cell batteries are received within another seat formed in housing. The lower battery sits on top of the longer contact arm captured in the channel of the bottom wall. A resilient plastic cover is assembled with the housing to maintain the diode and the batteries within the housing.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 23, 2003Publication date: May 15, 2003Inventor: Robert D. Publication number: 20030076674Abstract: The present invention includes an illumination assembly consisting of a light source such as a light emitting diode (LED) that produces a near field image and a means of imaging and focusing the near field image. The means for imaging and focusing the near field image is a convex optical lens having a radius of curvature equal to twice the overall thickness of the lens. The optical lens is installed in fixed spaced relation to the LED such that the lens is imaging the reflector cup of the LED rather than the light on the surface clear LED housing. The lighting assembly is enclosed in a flashlight housing having a means for operating the lighting circuit, a means for retaining a power source and a key ring extension with a slidable latching mechanism.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 2, 2002Publication date: April 24, 2003Inventor: Robert Galli

Patent number: 6550930Abstract: A wrist mounted illumination apparatus for providing illumination in front of a user. The wrist mounted illumination apparatus includes a housing having a front wall. A peripheral wall is integrally coupled to and extends away from the front wall. A back wall is removably securable to the peripheral wall. The front wall has a window therein. A substantially transparent covering is positioned over the window. An intermediate wall is positioned in the housing and defines a cavity between the window and a remaining portion of the housing. The intermediate wall has a reflective side directed towards the window. A light bulb is positioned in the cavity. A power supply for powering the light bulb is positioned in the housing and is electrically coupled to the light bulb. A first actuator selectively turns the light bulb on. The first actuator is electrically coupled to the power supply. A securing member removably secures a strap to the wrist for positioning around the wrist of a user.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2001Date of Patent: April 22, 2003Inventor: Gene Portouche
