  • Patent number: 7152994
Abstract: An LED flashlight having a structure of switch for which the housing of the flashlight comprises a cylinder and a rotating member mutually connected by means of an outer and an inner screw thread section, the cylinder and the rotating member thus rotate relatively to each other. When the rotating member so rotates, it moves an elastic piece having a number of P typed arms; the inner wall of the cylinder has at a position contacting protruding portions of the P typed arms an annular recess. When in circuit breaking of the flashlight, the protruding portions of the arms are exactly located in the annular recess and thereby is in a state of none contact; and when the rotating member rotates relatively to the cylinder, the rotating member moves the elastic piece axially to make the protruding portions move over the annular recess to contact the inner wall, thus the LED is turned on to emit light for illumination.

Abstract: A flashlight configured to durably provide an effective beam of light for extended periods of time. The flashlight features a high-power, directed LED configured to produce a divergent beam of light that is characterized by an optical directivity angle extending from a vertex point. The flashlight includes a lens having a first portion forming a convergent lens, where the LED is located such that its vertex point coincides with the lens' focal point. The convergent lens is sized and positioned such that substantially all of the directed light from the LED passes through the convergent lens portion to emerge in a first beam of parallel light. The LED emits additional light through a tip. A parabolic reflector has the tip at its focal point to reflects the additional light into a second beam of parallel light that is parallel to and surrounding the first beam, thus forming a single and more efficient useful beam.

Abstract: A novel lighting assembly that incorporates a high brightness light emitting diode (LED) in a compact assembly for further integration into a lighting device is provided. The lighting head assembly of the present invention provides several novel aspects that are all closely integrated to provide a unique assembly for incorporating a high brightness LED into a lighting device. In particular, the head assembly utilizes a receiver sleeve that includes a non reflective coating to provide a high level of contrast between the lighting element and the interior region surrounding the lighting element. Further, an optical element is coupled to the receiver to capture an image of the lighting element to provide a sharp, uniformly illuminated image in the far field of the device.

  • Patent number: 6986595
Abstract: In motor vehicles the problem often arises that additional lighting is required in the cabin, in places where a voltage supply and the mounting thereof in the cockpit can not satisfactorily be resolved. A plug-in rechargeable lamp (1) has thus been developed, which may be plugged into the 12V or 24V cigarette lighter socket with a light diode (13) as light source, which gives a multi-application light source which may be used anywhere. The use of a light diode renders the lamp insensitive to shock effects and contributes to the lifespan thereof. The threshold voltage of the light diode (13) is optimally matched to the final discharge voltage of the applied accumulator cells, such that a fill discharge of the accumulators is practically excluded.

  • Patent number: 6976766
Abstract: The present invention provides a unique dual mode, inline switch mechanism that is fully integrated into the rear cap of a flashlight assembly to provide a completely self contained and waterproof switching mechanism. The switch assembly further provides dual mode functionality including an ON position and a momentary ON position while also including a reliable OFF position that prevents the accidental activation of the light when the user desires that it remain off. The entire mechanism resides in the end cap of the flashlight assembly and includes an end cap structure that is designed to be rotatably attached to the end of a flashlight housing, a tactile ratchet lock assembly similar to a ballpoint pen, a plunger and an elastomeric cover. The switch mechanism is fully integrated on the interior of the flashlight providing the highly desirable, fully contained, in line functionality.

  • Patent number: 6966677
Abstract: The present invention provides a lighting assembly that incorporates a high intensity LED package into an integral housing for further incorporation into other useful lighting devices. The present invention primarily includes three housing components, namely an inner mounting die, an outer enclosure and an outer housing that cooperate to enhance the heat management of the overall assembly. The inner and outer components cooperate to retain the LED package, provide electrical and control connections, provide integral heat sink capacity and includes an integrated reflector cup. Surface area enhancements on the outer surface of the outer enclosure are aligned with openings in the outer housing to allow efficient air flow around the LED assembly to enhance cooling. In this manner, high intensity LED packages can be incorporated into lighting assemblies with reduced risk of overheating and malfunction.

Abstract: A flashlight includes a circuit board received in a housing and having one or more light devices received in a front opening of the housing. One or more chargeable batteries are received in the housing and coupled to the light device for energizing the light device. An actuating device includes a follower rotatably attached to the housing, and a handle pivotally attached to the follower. A gearing device includes a gear coupled to actuate an electric generating device, to generate electric energy to energize the light device. A weight may be secured to the gear of the gearing device, to increase the moment of inertia of the gear, and to facilitate the rotational movement of the gear relative to the housing.

Abstract: A light source includes a housing, an LED array of individual LED elements mounted in the housing, and a controller mounted in the housing and coupled to the LED array. The controller sequentially, intermittently pulses the LED elements of the LED array. The controller over drives the LED elements of the LED array with a current in excess of several times the continuous forward rating for the individual LED elements. The housing is a substantially closed, waterproof, tubular member and may include a power source in the housing. The light source may form a portable light source. The light source may include a fiber optic bundle coupling in the housing and a fresnel lens between the LED array and the fiber optic bundle coupling.

  • Patent number: 6932490
