Abstract: A structure for a high diffuse efficiency and water-proof lighting device is provided, including a light tube and a base holder. The light tube and the base holder are each an enclosed structure. The light tube includes a circuit substrate inside the enclosed structure. The circuit substrate includes a plurality of LEDs. The light tube and the base holder each include two holes close to both ends. When the light tube and the base holder are assembled, the holes match so that the wire connecting the circuit substrate can go through the holes to enter the base holder. A water-proof and highly pull-resistant glue is used to fill the overlapping of the holes. A resilient element is used to connect the neighboring circuit substrates, the resilient element can absorb the deformation caused by the temperature changes so that the light diffusion remains uniform. Therefore, the lighting device can perform well even when operating in an environment with drastic temperature changes.

  • Patent number: 6447137
Abstract: A lamp illuminates a waterfall from behind as a liquid cascades down the outside of a housing into a basin. From the basin, the liquid flows through a cavity in the housing, behind a body and through a pump, through an outflow line, through a cap with filter, and into a liquid retainer at the top of the body. The liquid retainer overflows, allowing the liquid to cascade down the outside of the body and back into the basin for recirculation. The enclosure comprises alternating opaque and translucent bands. A light source within the cavity behind the enclosure illuminates an inside surface of the body with the translucent bands transmitting light through the cascading liquid, producing an appealing visual effect.

  • Patent number: 6341879
Abstract: The present invention features a system for uniformly distributing luminance and a high degree of collimation from a back light module for a flat-panel, liquid crystal display (LCD). A constant and uniform luminance output of the back light module is obtained through appropriate selection of lamps, geometry and optical components. An appropriate balance of lamps, lamp spacing, reflective light back plane, and diffuser and collimating optics are chosen to produce a high brightness back light module with very high intensity output over very large surfaces. Variations in intensity over the illuminated area are minimized using light recycling in conjunction with the collimating optics. Optimum geometries are determined for the purpose of maximizing light output at high efficiencies, while minimizing luminance gradients across the display. Finally, a precise collimator eliminates light beyond a defined angle, as required in a tiled, flat-panel LCD.

Abstract: An elongated light fixture configured to create patterns of light saturation which is free of shadows and spots and provides a more uniform light distribution while effecting a substantial saving in energy costs when a plurality thereof are disposed at prescribed locations and elevations. In addition, such a plurality of light fixtures will produce a higher ratio of vertical to horizontal illuminance where vertical surfaces are needed to be amply lighted. The elongated fixture is characterized by its U-shaped cross-sectional configuration which has an interior light-reflective surface comprised of a plurality of elongated parallel panels which are interconnected and extend at a prescribed angle to each other. The fixtures are also claimed in combination with a hybrid magnetic-electronic ballast to provide the above advantages.
