Abstract: The illumination body (1) according to the invention consists of a U-shaped rod profile (16) which on the open side is provided with a transparent covering (20) and in which in a tight packing behind one another there are inserted several modules (3). The modules (3) consist of a plastic housing (4) with a base plate (5) on which carrier webs (6) are formed. The carrier webs (6) define rest surfaces which are inclined to one another and on which the circuitboard strips (7) lie. On the circuitboard strips (7) there are arranged a multitude of LEDs in series behind one another. The LEDs (2) have an angle of irradiation (&bgr;). Preferably the angle of irradiation (&bgr;) and the inclination (&agr;) of two neighboring circuitboard strips to one another correspond to one another.

  • Patent number: 6568830
Abstract: There is disclosed a linear fixture layout where one or more linear fixtures extending along different longitudinal axes are offset from each other by a predetermined angle. The fixtures each have end portions, which are positioned adjacent to and spaced from each other. The fixtures each have end caps mounted to the end portions of the linear fixtures and connected to each other by an interconnecting member so as to present a continuous fixture layout. The end caps have a slot in a side portion thereof and the interconnecting member has two legs spread apart from each other at the predetermined angle. Each of the legs is adapted to be mounted in sliding relation into a corresponding end cap slot to fixedly locate the end caps together and present continuous fixture layout appearance.

Abstract: A channel letter lighting unit according to the present invention comprises a printed circuit board (PCB) having a plurality of linearly mounted light emitting elements. Input wires transmit a power signal to the PCB to illuminate the plurality of light emitting elements, and output wires transmit the power signal from the PCB. The PCB is mounted in the extrusion and the light emitting elements transmit light away from the extrusion. The extrusion promotes the dissipation of heat from the light emitting elements. A mounting mechanism is included for mounting the extrusion within a housing. A further embodiment according to the invention comprises a plurality of channel lighting units electrically connected to one another so that a power signal applied to the lighting system is transmitted to each of the plurality of lighting units. A still further embodiment according to the invention comprises an illuminated channel letter system having a housing in the shape of a letter.

Abstract: A light tilting apparatus usable with an extendable light. In one embodiment, a mobile lighting system includes a tiltable light assembly mounted to an extendable tower on a trailer. The tiltable light assembly includes one or more lights fixedly mounted to a tilting member pivotably mounted to the extendable tower. A linkage operably connected to the tilting member at one end has a catch on a distal end. A linkage regulator attached to the extendable tower has a guide portion for the linkage to pass through as the extendable tower is extended and retracted. The linkage regulator is configured to engage the catch on the distal end of the linkage when the extendable tower reaches a preselected extension position restricting further motion of the linkage in the direction of tower extension. The linkage causes the tilting member to pivot and rotate the lights downward with continued extension of the extendable tower past the preselected extension position.
