  • Publication number: 20100134047
Abstract: An LED-based lighting device and method for making the same are disclosed. The lighting device includes an LED light source mounted on a heat sink, a power adaptor, and a controller. The power adaptor is configured to be interchangeable with a conventional incandescent bulb power adapter. The controller provides an average current to the LED light source when power is coupled to the device via the power adaptor. The average current causes the LED light source to generate light of a predetermined standard intensity that is substantially independent of variations in the LED light source from device to device. In one aspect of the invention, the LED light source includes a plurality of LEDs connected in series, the LEDs are bonded to the heat sink and connected to one another in series by wire bonds and to conducting traces on the heat sink.

Abstract: A light-generating device includes a driving substrate and a plurality of light source arrays. The driving substrate has a rectangular planar shape. The plurality of light source arrays is formed on the driving substrate. The light source arrays include at least one light emitting diode to generate light in response to power being applied through the substrate, and the light source arrays are spaced apart from each other. Thus, heat generated from the light-generating device is rapidly dissipated from the light-generating device, improving brightness of the light, brightness uniformity of the light and color reproducibility of the light.

Abstract: The invention discloses a high efficiency incandescent and Compact Fluorescent (CFL) bulb replacement LED lamp having a good color reproduction. The LED light bulb includes two groups of semiconductor light emitters and a luminescent material to emit four different spectrums of light. The two groups of semiconductor light emitters are enclosed around an interior wall of the light bulb housing, which has a plurality of fins at an exterior surface for effective heat dissipation. A high reflective member having a dome shape in the center is disposed under the two groups of semiconductor light emitters to redirect the emission and excitation lights from the two groups of semiconductor light emitters and recycle the backscattered light for multi-spectrum light mixing. The LED-light bulb further includes a single power line connecting to the two groups of semiconductor light emitters and a high efficiency electrical AC/DC conversion and control device.

Abstract: A light-emitting device operating on a high drive voltage and a small drive current. LEDs (1) are two-dimensionally formed on an insulating substrate (10) of e.g., sapphire monolithically and connected in series to form an LED array. Two such LED arrays are connected to electrodes (32) in inverse parallel. Air-bridge wiring (28) is formed between the LEDs (1) and between the LEDs (1) and electrodes (32). The LED arrays are arranged zigzag to form a plurality of LEDs (1) to produce a high drive voltage and a small drive current. Two LED arrays are connected in inverse parallel, and therefore an AC power supply can be used as the power supply.

Abstract: A tubular LED light source, based on a tube manufactured in a heat conducting material (1). The LED's (2) are mounted on a part of the outer surface of the tube. Thereby they conduct their heat to the tube, which transfers the heat to the surroundings by cooling fins (6) located on the other part of the outer surface of the tube. Inside the tube the control electronic (7) is placed. It is electrically connected with the LED's on the outer surface of the tube, and with connectors (10) in each end of the tube. The connectors makes it possible to install the light source in existing fluorescent tube fittings, as a direct replacement for fluorescent tubes. There is vacuum (20) inside the tube, so that no damaging condensed water is generated in cold environments. The control electronics can turn on/off and adjust the light level from LED's, and adjust the color components (RGB) of the light. Hereby different color temperatures can be generated.

Abstract: An illuminating device with LED light source includes a circuit board and an elongated arch-sectioned transparent plate. The circuit board has at least two LED lamps arranged in line. The transparent plate is located below the circuit board and is large enough to cover all the LED lamps. The arch-sectioned transparent plate is provided on an outer surface with a plurality of curved ridges, which are parallelly and closely arranged side by side. Lights emitted from the LED lamps and passed through the arch-sectioned transparent plate are condensed by the curved ridges. Therefore, the arch-sectioned transparent plate with the curved ridges forms an area light source. That is, point light sources provided by the LED lamps are converted into an elongated area light source by the curved ridges.
