  • Patent number: 10987188
Abstract: An infection mitigation device providing a temporary, disposable sterile barrier between a sterile field and the non-sterile, light-emitting region of surgical lightheads. A surgical team member can easily apply and remove the protective barrier when needed. The device minimizes the opportunity for biohazardous materials from being transmitted between patients, thereby reducing the chance of infection, and ultimately providing patients with improved clinical outcomes. The center region of the barrier can be adapted to receive and/or cover (partially or completely) one or more types of centrally located surgical lighthead adjustment handles. The device can be manufactured with a unitary or composite construction. Depending on the specific composition of the barrier and application, a supportive carrier device may provide additional geometric stability for the barrier while it is maneuvered into its operational location on the lighthead.

The LED array can be pivoted through an arc of between 160° and 175° about the second pivot axis.

Abstract: A lighting apparatus includes a plurality of light-emitting diodes emitting red, blue, and green light. The plurality of light-emitting diodes emit light beams and are arranged so as to emit the light beams toward a focusing point. A control circuit is provided for controlling the intensity of light emission of each of the light-emitting diodes emitting red, blue, and green light. A concave reflector is provided for reflecting and radiating the light focused from the light-emitting diodes to the focusing point so that the light is further focused or scattered. The apparatus also has a position-changing mechanism for changing a relative position of the concave reflector relative to the focusing point of the light-emitting diodes.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for the adjustment and automatic readjustment of the lamp in a microscope. The present invention is used for adjusting the lamp in a microscope. In the solution according to the invention, the tilting direction of the glass body relative to the lamp cap is marked at the lamp. The lamp cap is likewise marked for oriented insertion of the marked lamp so that the tilting direction of the lamp lies in direction of the optical axis of the collector after insertion. For adjusting, the collector-reflector unit is displaced in direction of the optical axis of the collector and the lamp cap is then oriented in vertical direction of the optical axis of the collector. For automatic readjustment, the lamp cap has an actuating drive. A reference variable is determined for the actuating drive by a control unit by evaluating lamp voltage or lamp current.

Abstract: A moveable, adjustable lighting system for use in television/movie sets and locations, and other similar indoor/outdoor applications comprises at least one horizontal framework that is disposed on a plurality of vertical members in such a way as to allow the horizontal and vertical dimensions of the system, as well as the individual lights and fixtures within the system to be adjusted and adapted to the requirements of a specific set. Lights, lighting fixtures, and other similar fixtures are connected in such a way as to enable them and/or the dimensions of the system to be remotely controlled. The vertical members are equipped with moving means, such as rollers, that allow the entire rig to be moved from one set to another. The system suggests and embodies an “assembly-line production” process in which sets are separately constructed to allow the rig to move between and among them.

Abstract: The subject invention comprises an adaptive front lighting system (“AFS”) utilizing at least one light emitting diode (“LED”) as a light source and a means for moving the LED to achieve AFS functionality. An exemplary embodiment of the subject invention comprises a plurality of LEDs positioned and located on a LED carrier. The LED carrier is mechanically connected to at least one actuator that causes the LED carrier and LEDs to move. A controller is used to cause the actuator to move the LEDs. In this manner, this exemplary embodiment adjusts the light beam and creates the desired light beam pattern. Other exemplary embodiments of the subject invention pivotally connect the LEDs to the lens and to each other and utilize the actuator and controller to adjust the light beam. Another exemplary embodiment positions the LEDs in a spherical surface and connects them to the actuator by an extension in order to adjust the light beam.
