Abstract: A votive device includes a grip; a lamp holder fixed to the grip and having a first electrical lamp holder contact and a second lamp holder electrical contact; a first device electrical contact and a second device electrical contact exposed to the outside surface of the grip and arranged at a predetermined mutual distance so as to be touched simultaneously by a user's hand when gripping said grip; a first electrical conductor directly connecting the first lamp holder electrical contact and the first device electrical contact, and a second electrical conductor directly connecting the second lamp holder electrical contact to the second device electrical contact.

Abstract: Techniques are described for implementing automated control systems that manipulate operations of specified target systems, such as by modifying or otherwise manipulating inputs or other control elements of the target system that affect its operation (e.g., affect output of the target system). An automated control system may in some situations have a distributed architecture with multiple decision modules that each controls a portion of a target system, and may further have one or more components that interacts with one or more users to obtain a description of the target system, including restrictions related to the various elements of the target system, and one or more goals to be achieved during control of the target system. The component(s) then perform various automated actions to generate, test and deploy one or more executable decision modules to use in performing the control of the target system based on the user-specified information.

Abstract: An energy-saving light-emitting module is provided, comprising: a light guide plate having a light-incident surface, a bottom surface intersecting the light-incident surface and a light-emitting surface opposite the bottom surface, wherein a plurality of recesses are provided at the bottom surface; a light source placed at one side of the light-incident surface of the light guide plate; and a reflective plate placed at the bottom of the light guide plate for reflecting light rays from the light source into the light guide plate. The light rays emitted by the light source reach the arc surface of each recess at the bottom side of the light guide plate, and the light rays are then reflected to the light-emitting surface. Meanwhile, during the light-emitting process, light rays are concentrated at the arc surface of each recess. The concentration of light rays increases overall luminance produced by the module, and thus, energy is saved effectively.

Abstract: A luminaire system having an elongated throughway utilizing a thermal chimney effect. The thermal chimney effect within the throughway circulates air to remove heat generated from the electrical components of the system. Dissipating heat into the throughway from the electrical components can increase the life expectancy of the lamp and the output of the lamp. The electrical components of the system being entirely sealed and isolated from the throughway results in a permanent air, dust, and water tight seal. The permanent seal can minimize damage to the electrical components of the system as well as prevent the build up of moisture and dust within these sealed components.

Abstract: A reflective shade for an electric table lamp includes a conventional frustrum shape but with removeable translucent plastic disks spanning the top opening for reflecting the light back down toward the table top and for transmitting colored light for creating an ambiance in the environment. The disks attached to the shade are supported on a cylindrical chimney and the lower disk may fit within the chimney to center the shade on the lamp.

Abstract: A lantern includes a base which has a bottom wall with a ventilation hole unit formed therethrough, and a surrounding wall. The bottom wall has a bottom surface in which an accommodating recess and an open-ended holder positioning slot unit are formed. The recess and the positioning slot unit are communicated with each other. A clamp member is fixed on the base and has at least three clamping pieces. A candlestick is clamped among the clamping pieces and is adapted to mount a candle thereon. A vertical tubular transparent shade has two open ends and is disposed on the surrounding wall. A top cover is attached to a top end of the shade and is provided with a hanging unit. The top cover has two opposed horizontal positioning holes formed in an outer surface thereof. An elongated and generally U-shaped holder has a horizontal rod which extends through the positioning slot unit and which is movable vertically.

Abstract: A chimney assembly for an illumination source comprises a support including a tubular hub and a set of spokes radiating out from the hub. A chimney of a transparent material is shaped and arranged to sit on the support so that the outer ends of the spokes supportively engage the inner surface of the chimney.

Abstract: A collapsible lantern includes a housing and a chimney telescopically moveable within the housing between a retracted and an extended position. The chimney includes a ring at the top and the bottom made of a high temperature-resistant thermoplastic which is adhesively affixed to the transparent chimney with a thixotropic paste. The transparency about the chimney is unimpeded by elongated retaining elements to hold the rings with the tubular transparent chimney. The chimney can be selectively extended, retracted or interlocked or released from the housing by interacting features on the lower ring and the internal surface of the housing.

Abstract: A table lamp having a pedestal and globe each with circular cross-sections has 12 vertical slots cut in the upper edge of the pedestal at 30 degree intervals and 3 inwardly projecting lugs on said globe arranged to engage in 3 of said slots with no more than 30 degrees rotation of the globe relative to the pedestal. The stability of the assembly is improved while retaining the simplicity of use of prior devices.

Abstract: A cylindrical glass globe is supported by an annular rigid plastic coupling member which seats and locks onto the top portion of a tubular rigid plastic housing. A fuel source in the form of a container of liquid fuel mounted on a bottom adaptor or a candle supported within a rigid casing by a compression spring, is supported within the housing by a rigid plastic base removably secured to the bottom of the housing. The globe and coupling member are inverted as a unit after being removed from the housing, and the globe is inserted into the housing around the fuel source for storage and protection of the globe. A bail-type handle connects a pair of strips slidably supported by the housing.

Abstract: An improved candle holder in which the lens is trapped within elastic elongated bars that space the lens from the rigid metallic cover and frictionally hold the lens in an extended and retracted position. Viewing windows are provided for seeing the height of the unburned candle. A brandy glass attachment is provided for the top of the holder.

Abstract: A gaseous lantern ventilator including an outer shell concentrically spaced over an inner metal liner which collects and exhausts the hot gases from the burner assembly through a chimney, the upper end of which is surrounded by an annular opening in the outer shell. The rising hot gases will entrain outside cool air drawn between the shell and liner, thereby cooling the liner and substantially reducing the surface temperature of the outside shell.

Abstract: A cup member adapted for resting on a base of a lamp and for being sandwiched between the base and a bulb fixture threaded on a stem which passes through an aperture in the cup member. The cup member has a rim with slots formed therein to define flexible fingers which can frictionally receive the lower edge of a chimney. The cup member has integral bushings for removably receiving respective rods connected to a ring member adapted for supporting the outer shade of the lamp.
