Abstract: An apparatus and methods that includes a gel holder and an optional shade holder that allows a user to add color or eliminate or reduce reflected color and to shape, shade, diffuse, soften, absorb, block, reflect, retract and dim light inside photographic reflectors such as photographic umbrellas or other reflective apparatus. The invention allows a user to mix, blend or shape light at the source and the resulting light can be symmetrical or asymmetrical. The invention allows a user to more efficiently add texture, eliminate hotspots and create shadows by changing positions of a gel holder with a gel and one or more shade holders with shades on a reflector focus tube.

Abstract: A molded plastic structure (100) can include an in-mold decoration (112) having at least a first illumination feature (108) positioned at a first portion (142) of the molded plastic structure. The molded plastic structure also can include a first substrate (114) positioned proximate to the in-mold decoration, and a substantially optically clear or translucent second substrate (116) positioned proximate to the in-mold decoration. The second substrate can extend from the first portion of the molded plastic structure to a second portion (144) of the molded plastic structure. The second portion can be distal from the first portion. A separation layer (320) can be positioned between at least a portion of the first substrate and at least a portion of the second substrate. The separation layer can backscatter a substantial portion of light incident on at least a first side of the separation layer.

  • Patent number: 7473013
Abstract: It is sought to provide an indicator lamp, which is excellent not only in short distance visual recognition property but also in long distance one, as well as being further excellent in sight field angle property. An indicator lamp includes a light-emitting element 1 and a light-emitting element lens 2 having a light-emitting element mounting cavity 3 formed at the bottom, in which the light-emitting element disposed in the cavity 3 emits light to be fully reflected by the peripheral surface of the lens 1 and proceeds as emission light flux forwardly of the lens 1. The slope angle of the peripheral surface with respect to the lens axis is reduced progressively from the bottom toward the lens front surface 5 in three stages, thus forming circumferential corners 7 and 8 as boundaries between adjacent ones of the three stages. The circumferential corners scatter light emitted from the light emitting element 2 to provide concentric emission light fluxes as viewed from the side of the lens front.
