Abstract: A luminaire having a housing with a column extending therefrom and a bracket secured to the column, the bracket having a body and two wings extending from opposing sides of the body, at least a portion of each wing extending in a direction at least partially away from the column. The mounting bracket allows installation of the luminaire to a structure, such as a ceiling or canopy, by inserting the luminaire column and bracket into an aperture in the structure from the underside of the structure. The aperture edge forces the wings to flex inward as the column advances through the aperture until the wings pass the aperture edge and spring outward to hold the luminaire to the structure. The mounting bracket thus facilitates quick attachment of the luminaire to the structure and allows attachment of additional mounting hardware to further secure the luminaire to the structure.

Abstract: A light fixture has a bracket adapted to be fixed to a wall or ceiling surface and having a leg formed with a leg hole, and a bolt fixed in the fixture housing and projecting therefrom along an axis through the leg hole. A ring engageable over an outer profiled end of the bolt can fit complementarily therewith. An annular disk fits over the ring, has a back face turned toward and engageable around the ring with the leg, and is formed with a radially extending threaded bore holding a radial screw engageable radially inward with the ring to rotationally lock the disk on the ring. The disk and leg fit are locked together so they cannot relatively rotate. An axial screw engaged through the disk and ring with the bolt engages axially inward with the disk to press the disk against the leg and the leg against the housing.

Abstract: A lighting system including a track member and a lighting unit supported by the track member 14. The track member includes an elongate base for mounting the track member to a surface, such as a wall, frame, etc. A pair of arms 26 and 30 extend from the base 22 in a common direction and define therebetween a channel 34 for receiving the lighting unit 18. Rotationally interlocking members associated with each at least one of the track member and the lighting unit restrict rotation of the lighting unit relative to the track member when the arm is in a first position. Upon application of a threshold rotational force to the lighting unit, the at least one arm moves to a second position permitting angular adjustment of the lighting unit.

  • Patent number: 8066412
Abstract: A luminaire system provides for mounting and accessing a light fixture housing without tools. A universal bracket is coupled to the junction box along the ceiling and engages with a top mounting plate affixed to the housing. One or more slide hooks appended to the universal bracket allows the top mounting plate to mount to the universal bracket, and a reinforced spring and locking spring keeps the light fixture housing in place, while preventing rattling between the universal bracket and the top-mounting plate. The housing can be removed from the electrical junction box through the use of a release button affixed to the housing. The button disengages the locking spring from the top mounting plate, thereby allowing the housing to swivel away from the universal bracket and junction box by way of a hanging hook. The hanging hook supports the housing when released from the universal bracket.
