Abstract: A firefighting or rescue apparatus includes a frame, cab and/or body to which a signal light grab handle is mounted. The signal light grab handle is operable in a flashing mode in which the signal light grab handle emits illumination in a predefined flashing pattern, and a sleep mode in which the signal light grab handle emits no illumination. The signal light grab handle includes a light strip including a plurality of light sources, such as LEDs. This strip can be coupled to a wire that extends through upper and/or lower handle attachment brackets, and through an exterior outer panel of the apparatus. The signal light grab handle provides at least one of warning lights and signal lights to observers of the firefighting apparatus when actuated.

Abstract: The present invention solves the problem of secure engagement of a thin gauge light handle cover to a light handle. This is possible by way of a simple addition to existing light handle covers. Vacuum structures are a critical improvement of the present invention over the prior art. The prior art has uniformly tried to use a seal between the shield rim and the light handle cover behind which a vacuum would be attempted to be formed. Where the post and shield covering sections have sufficient structural strength, such a seal and vacuum can be obtained. With thin gauge polymers, it is simply not practical.

Abstract: A method of making a light handle cover including providing a first mold tool and a second mold tool. The first mold tool engages with the second mold tool to form a mold cavity. The mold cavity is injected with a moldable material. The light handle cover is formed as a single integral piece with a substantially cylindrical grab portion that is circumscribed on one end by a substantially circular base shield. A plurality of teeth are formed in the light handle cover. Each of the plurality of teeth is separated by a space. The light handle cover is ejected from the second mold tool with a burst of air.

Abstract: A light fixture allows individual light bulbs to be arranged in compact fashion to maximize the number of bulbs per given area in the fixture. To facilitate replacement or exchange of the bulbs, the bulbs are mounted in alternating succession on a pair of separately movable supports, reorientation of which serves to remove the bulbs from the tight packed arrangement, to one in which the bulbs are sufficiently separated from one another to allow hand access for removal and installation of the bulbs. A distinct aspect of the aforementioned feature of the invention independent of the movable supports resides in the ability to utilize two of more of the fixtures to multiply the light produced. Advantageously, the fixtures can be arranged in direct physical series, side by side, or to form an array extending in orthogonal directions.

Abstract: A disposable sterile handle cover uses a flexible bag, a portion of the open side of which is held snugly by a retaining ring to the inside of a conical skirt. A first set of spikes include variable length spikes protruding from the inner wall, to secure the bag against the handle. A second set of spikes protrude inwardly from the retaining ring and promote stretching and orderly application of the to the handle.

At the junction of handle body and threaded portion is an integrally formed circular shield that projects therefrom to provide a guard against contact between the hand of a user and the light fixture. The shield is sufficiently resilient and flexible to permit opposite sides of an outer periphery to bend into an overlying relationship to the handle body for minimizing width in storage. The shield is provided with loops located diametrically opposed to one another on the periphery of the shield. Connector projections are diametrically opposed to one another along the length of the handle body, and positioned to releasably receive thereon the loops when the shield is bent into an overlying relationship.

The casing is provided to receive therein the inner tube that has a plurality of circuits boards securely mounted on the outer periphery thereof and having a plurality of illuminating elements electrically connected with the circuit boards. A switch mounted on the inner tube and protruded out from the periphery of the casing is able to control the illumination of the illuminating elements in the casing. Furthermore, a magnet received in the bottom of the inner tube enables the device to magnetically adhere to a metal surface as a warning signal to others.

The rear half houses a liquid (e.g. water) and ornamental elements. An opaque cap is provided which, when placed over the front end of the flashlight, blocks light from escaping other than toward the rear end of the flashlight to illuminate the liquid and ornamental elements, acting as a nightlight for kids. The front end is surrounded by a reflective/opaque coating under the soft material. The bulb support, which is usually a reflective parabolically shaped piece in a typical flashlight, is transparent to allow light to pass backward into the rear end of the flashlight. Light is also conducted through the clear flashlight housing.

Abstract: Disclosed is a fiber optic light positioned to illuminate the exterior door wall in the area of the door handle. The fiber optic line is preferably carried in the door handle and positioned to produce a flood of light reflecting off of the door wall and in particularly off of the bezel behind the door handle. The fiber optic line may also be positioned in the door wall or bezel to produce light reflecting off the door wall or bezel. The door wall or bezel may include a lip or eyebrow structure over hanging the end of the fiber optic line so that the end of the fiber optic line (and the direct light source) is not visible to a person standing next to the door in an upright position.

Abstract: An improved mounting arrangement is provided for supporting a tubular lamp, particularly such as a lamp used in fluid treatment processes, within a protective jacket such as a transparent sleeve of quartz glass or the like. The protective jacket is mounted by a compression nut to a threaded socket adapted for slide-fit reception of the lamp through the socket and into the protective jacket. The lamp comprises an elongated tubular glass lamp body having distal and proximal ends thereof supported by distal and proximal end caps each including spacers for centering the lamp body in spaced relation to the protective jacket. The proximal end cap comprises a lamp base with conductive terminal pins for connection to an electrical power source, and further includes outwardly projecting lock tabs for engagement, preferably with a quarter-turn rotation, with the compression nut to releasibly lock the lamp in position.

Abstract: A wide area lamp for use in hazardous locations includes a metal halide lamp excited by a ballast. The lamp is mounted within an explosion-proof transparent globe and metal lamp guard secured to a metal vault. The vault is divided into two compartments. One compartment houses a ballast for the lamp. That compartment is filled with a potting compound to eliminate any arcing in the high voltage excitation circuit. The other compartment is enclosed, but accessible for making necessary electrical connectors to a power feed cord.
