Abstract: Highly visible detented light mounts for trucks or trailers have light fixtures of selected configurations coupled by rotatable arms to rigid, tubular stands. Each stand is axially biased to a rigid, tubular spring housing by an internal core-drilled fastener that coaxially secures an internal spring. The stand and spring housing can have different lengths and configurations. A pair of friction washers, one on the stand and the other on the housing, mutually abut. Protrusions on one washer register with corresponding dimples or depressions on another washer to cause a detent effect. The housing and the stands may in each embodiment be torsionally displaced against friction caused by the spring biased washers that interfit to form radially spaced-part semi-fixed “detented” positions. • Patent number: 8833962
Abstract: A portable pocket light, comprising three sections; (1) a main body containing an electric circuitry board, battery compartment, and a power switch; (2) a lamp section containing a light source, a lens, and a means for rotatably attaching said lamp section to the main body and facilitating rotation of said lamp section in a 300 degree arc about the an extended axis of said main body, and (3) a sheath section comprising two prongs, and an axial means for rotating said main body an unimpaired 360 degrees within the confines of the two sheath prongs. The two prongs further facilitate a self-standing base by means of which the pocket light may rest on a surface and provide stable, adjustably aimed illumination in a plurality of directions and orientations. The pocket light is fabricated with an integral spring-loaded clip which enables temporary attachment of the pocket light to the brim of a wearer's cap, a shirt pocket, or other stable object.

Abstract: A recessed lighting system is provided. The recessed lighting system includes a light module and a driver separately coupled to a chassis. The light module includes one or more rotatable prongs for allowing the light module to pivot while the driver and chassis remain static. By being mechanically separate, the driver does not interfere with the movement of the light module. In particular, since the light module is not directly coupled to and is mechanically separate from the driver, pivoting the light module does not require space in a cavity of an associated housing to accommodate the rotation of the driver. This independent freedom of movement allows the light module to achieve a greater degree of rotation in comparison to light modules that are mechanically dependent on drivers.

Abstract: Motion sensing dock lighting systems are disclosed. An example lighting system for use at a loading dock where a material handling device is used to load or unload a vehicle parked at the loading dock includes a motion sensing system to be spaced apart from the material handling device. The motion sensing system is to provide an operation signal in response to the material handling device undergoing a change in travel direction within the vehicle. The example lighting system also includes a lamp to be operatively connected in signal communication with the motion sensing system so as to receive the operation signal from the motion sensing system. The lamp is to have a first illuminating mode and a second illuminating mode, and the lamp is to switch between the first illuminating mode and the second illuminating mode in response to the operation signal.

Abstract: A lighting fixture for installation in a ceiling grid includes a lighting assembly and at least one pivotable rail assembly attached to the lighting assembly. The rail assembly includes at least one mounting bracket, a rail and a spring. The rail is pivotable relative to the at least one mounting bracket. To insert the lighting fixture into the ceiling grid, the rail is rotated relative to the mounting bracket such that the rail will clear the ceiling grid, thereby compressing the spring. The lighting fixture is inserted into the ceiling grid and the rail is released. The compression of the spring is relaxed, and the rail rotates back into its original position. The rail, now extending beyond the boundary of the ceiling grid, rests on the ceiling grid is thereby secured within the ceiling grid.

Abstract: A high intensity discharge (HID) light fixture includes a reflector frame which supports an independent high reflectivity reflecting surface. The reflector frame supports a glass lens with anti-reflective coatings on its surfaces and a visor or extension that also supports an independent high reflectivity reflecting surface. The high reflectivity reflecting surface has various sections that adjust portions of the beam created by the fixture to better place light on a target area. The reflector frame is attachable to a lamp cone. An adjustable knuckle attaches between to a cross arm on a pole and the lamp cone. An HID lamp, when mounted in the lamp cone, has its arc tube substantially surrounded by the high reflectivity reflecting surfaces of the reflector frame and visor. A lamp positioning mechanism automatically adjusts orientation of the arc lamp over a range of pivot angles for the lamp cone relative the knuckle.
