Abstract: A lighting system is described. The lighting system includes a lamp and a first container including a first phase change material thermally connected to the lamp. Heat generated by the lamp during operation is conducted to the first phase change material. The system also includes a second container including a second phase change material thermally connected to the lamp. Heat generated by the lamp during operation is also conducted to the second phase change material, and the second phase change material has a transition point temperature lower than the transition point temperature of the first phase change material of the first container to account for a temperature drop between the second container and the first container. The lighting system also includes a temperature sensor for reducing lamp power if the lamp becomes too hot, and a mounting bracket which may also conduct heat away from the lamp.

  • Patent number: 7943211
Abstract: An improved three dimensional display such as a Holiday decoration having collapsible constructions having a shape memory internal frame. In one embodied form, the unique display includes a collapsible internal frame formed, in part, from metal wire imparted with suitable memory characteristics. Such metals are referred to as “shape memory alloys” (SMAs) because much metals “remember” their original shapes. Accordingly, the present invention uses a deformable internal metal frame supporting an outer sheath formed from suitable materials such as fabric, or plastic film for the skin of the inventive three dimensional displays.

  • Publication number: 20100246207
Abstract: There is a problem that in the connection portion between a rare-earth-doped double clad fiber and a single mode fiber, pumping light leaks in a portion having the coating, and the fiber generates heat partially with this energy and deteriorates. Also, there is another problem that the output is limited as the oscillation wavelength becomes shorter. Accordingly, in a laser light source device formed by combining a fiber laser and a fiber amplifier, by using the residual pumping light in the fiber laser as the pumping light in the fiber amplifier, it is possible to enhance the reliability by preventing the fiber deterioration caused by the residual pumping light. Further, by amplifying the output in the fiber amplifier in the latter stage without any limitation on the pumping light output, it is possible to increase an output of the oscillation light.

A lamp holder (32) is movably attached to a ride side plate (37) of a lamp case by extension springs (63). The center of a lamp (1) is positioned on the optical axis (20x) of an optical unit (20) by a circular arc wall face (32f) of the lamp holder (32) and a V-shaped member (45) fixed to the optical unit (20). The optical axis (1x) of the lamp (1) and the optical axis (20x) of the optical unit (20) are set to be parallel to each other by a slide reference face (20a) of the optical unit (20) and three projections of the lamp holder (32). Since the lamp holder (32) is not fixed to a lamp house, an influence of accumulation of dimensional variations of components such as the lamp house exerted on the adjustment of the optical axes of the lamp (1) and the optical unit (20) can be minimized.

Abstract: An anisotropic conductive sheet comprising an insulating base material and a plurality of conductive passages embedded at predetermined positions in the insulating base material, penetrating the insulating base material in the thickness direction. The conductive passage comprises a matrix consisting of non-silicone material or silicone material having rubber elasticity, the matrix material being filled into through-holes formed at a predetermined position in the base material and then hardened, and a conductive filler dispersed in the matrix at an amount capable of exhibiting conductivity at all times. A surface layer of conductive material is capable of functioning as a contact and ensuring an electrical connection by piercing a surface layer of an opponent when the surface layer is used as a contact, such as a layer of fine conductive particles is further provided on at least one of the end faces of the conductive passage.

Abstract: An illumination engine for a projection display using a TLP including a reflector having a first focal point and second focal points. A source of electro-magnetic radiation disposed proximate to the first focal point of the reflector emits rays of radiation that reflect from the reflector toward the second focal point. A TLP collects and transmits substantially all of the radiation converged at the second focal point, adjusting the numerical aperture of the radiation, but curving the surface formed by the images of the radiation. A SLP or a lens collects and transmits substantially all of the radiation transmitted by the TLP, flattening the surface formed by the images of the radiation. A condenser lens collects and transmits substantially all of the radiation transmitted by the contoured delay element to a PBS and a projection system.

Abstract: A lens cover for covering the lens of a traffic signal when the signal is not in service. The lens cover is made of a black polyethylene flat tubing which is cut and sealed on one end and has an open end to fit over traffic light lens shields. The lens cover is completely opaque and thus prevents light from the lens passing through. Thus, motorists are not confused with respect to the traffic light being in an operating state. The lens cover also has an observation hole at the bottom which allows one to check the operation of the traffic light from ground level.
