  • Patent number: 7025487
Abstract: A lamp system, especially for a motor vehicle, has a casing that is covered by a clear, optically neutral lens and that contains at least one light source composed of a light bulb and an associated reflector. A screen in the form of a semireflecting mirror is positioned between the lens and the light source in such a way as to separate a posterior lamp section that accommodates the light source from an anterior lamp section defined by the screen and the lens. Consequently, to an observer looking in the direction of the light source, the posterior lamp section is indiscernible while the screen is transparent to the light emitted by the light bulb when the lamp is turned on.

  • Patent number: 7014254
Abstract: A fastening device is provided for a component which is installed in a depression in an automotive body part, insertable into the depression from the outside via an inclined assembly position, and lockable in an operating position in the depression by a pivoting movement. In the operating position, a mounting part integrally molded on a first edge area of the component is in operative connection with a first side wall section of the depression, and, on an opposite second edge area of the component, an elastic catch part is provided, cooperating with a second side wall section of the depression. The depression also has two wall sections arranged with distance between them. To create the fastening device, with which the design is simplified and which also ensures rapid and simple installation and removal, a device is inserted between the depression and the adjacent component in the area of the two wall sections.

  • Patent number: 7009525
Abstract: An indicator apparatus facilitates visibility of one or more indicators from multiple angles. The apparatus includes a housing having an outer sidewall portion. The sidewall portion, for example, has a first side extending between two adjacent sides. One or more elongated slots are formed in the sidewall portion. A substantially translucent material is disposed in the slot so that the translucent material is visible from more than one side of the housing, such as the first side and another side through which the slot extends. A light source is operatively associated with the substantially translucent material for illuminating the material. As a result, when the light source illuminates the substantially translucent material, the illuminated translucent material is visible from more than one side of the housing.

  • Patent number: 6957132
Abstract: A method of guiding a vehicle to a position is provided. Light sources arranged in an array are placed at a position with the light sources defining a primary field-of-view (FOV) from which all of the light sources are visible. Less than all of the light sources are visible from positions outside of the primary FOV. The light sources are divided into sections with each section having a portion of the light sources associated therewith. The light sources are operated in accordance with cyclical on/off sequences so that a primary waveform of light energy is defined by the cyclical on/off sequence visible from within the primary FOV and secondary waveforms of light energy are defined by the cyclical on/off sequences visible from positions outside of the primary FOV. The light energy generated by the light sources is sensed by an approaching navigable vehicle. Based on the position of the vehicle, one of the primary waveform and the plurality of secondary waveforms is sensed.
