Abstract: A backlight includes a waveguide with a plurality of light emitting diodes positioned in cavities in the back surface in a center region of the waveguide. The back surface of the waveguide can be tapered from the center region to the edges so that the edges are thinner than the center region. Additionally, with the light emitting diodes in the center region of the waveguide, as opposed to along the edges, the bezel may be eliminated or at least minimized in height, e.g., 1 mm or less. Additionally, multiple waveguides may be used and configured in a āVā shape to minimize the bezel.
Abstract: Methods and aparatuses disclosed herein relate to backlit visual display elements. A visual display element may include a base layer defining one or more microperforations and a light guide coupled to a light source. The light guide may be positioned adjacent the base layer and include one or more microlenses in alignment with the one or more microperforations along at least one vertical axis.
Abstract: An electrowetting display, a pixel array substrate thereof, and an electrowetting display pixel structure thereof are provided. The electrowetting display pixel structure is disposed on a substrate. The electrowetting display pixel structure includes a pixel electrode, a hydrophobic insulating layer and a wall. The pixel electrode is covered by the hydrophobic insulating layer. The wall is disposed on the hydrophobic insulating layer. The wall has a first side surface, a second side surface and at least one opening penetrating the first side surface and the second side surface. The opening is used for fluid medium to flow therethrough.

Abstract: To provide a semiconductor device including: a MOS transistor formed in a semiconductor substrate and have a threshold voltage to be adjusted, a replica transistor of the MOS transistor, a monitoring circuit monitors a gate/source voltage needed when the replica transistor flows a current having a given designed value, a negative voltage pumping circuit generates a substrate voltage of the MOS transistor, based on an output from the monitoring circuit, and a limiting circuit defines the operation of the negative voltage pumping circuit, regardless of a monitoring result of the monitoring circuit, in response to an excess of the substrate voltage with respect to a predetermined value.
Abstract: A modular lighted vehicle trailer hitching socket covering means system which when mounted to a vehicle trailer hitching socket essentially blocks it from view in a decorative manner, is disclosed. The system provides a single tongue element which is of a shape and size to slide into a vehicle trailer hitching socket, (wherein it is secured in place by a securing means during use), in combination with a selected detachably affixed, ornamental item with a shape such as a football, a basketball, a soccer ball etc., or a hockey puck, or an item with outer shape of a mascots etc., or even simple flat surface.
Abstract: During acceleration and deceleration the front end of the body of a motor vehicle dips or rears on the suspension causing light beams from the headlamps to be directed upwards or downwards too much. To avoid this the orientation of a headlamp is variable by pivoting the lamp relative to the vehicle body, about a horizontal axis extending transversely of the body, in response to operation of an orientation control which responds to acceleration and deceleration.
Abstract: A motor vehicle comprises a pivotal support member having at least one headlamp secured thereto, an unidirectional motor which rotates its output shaft in one rotational direction only when energized, cam and linkage means whereby rotation of the output shaft of the motor is converted into a pivotal movement of the support member about its pivot axis to adjust the headlight angles. Also provided is an electric circuit for energizing the motor which comprises a first group of electrical contacts which are connected in series with a second group of electrical contacts, respectively, a contact disc in slidable engagement with the second group of electrical contacts, and a manually operable means for selectively connecting one of the first group of electrical contacts to a battery. The contact disc is electrically connected in series with the motor and also mechanically connected to the output shaft of the motor to be rotated thereby.
