Abstract: A light diffusive sheet of the present invention comprises a transparent polymer sheet provided with a light diffusion layer 3 on one side and an uneven surface 4a having arithmetical mean deviation of 0.5 ?m or less and mean spacing of 80 ?m or narrower on the opposite side. Such an uneven surface can be made by forming a backcoat layer 4 including a mixture of particles having particular mean diameters in a particular proportion to a binder resin on the transparent polymer sheet. An area light source element 7 of the present invention is produced by laminating a prism sheet 6 on a light guide plate 5 so that the prism surface 61 of the prism sheet 6 is opposed to the light-emitting surface 51 of the light guide plate 5 and laminating the light diffusive sheet on the prism sheet 6 so that the uneven surface (backcoat layer) of the light diffusive sheet is opposed to the surface opposite of the prism surface.

Abstract: In a front light, an intermediate light guide protrudes from a light guide plate toward a light emitting element in the direction along a light incident face of the light guide plate. A side face of the intermediate light guide opposing the light incident face serves as an emergent face from which light from the light emitting element is emitted to the light guide plate, and an outer side face remote from the emergent face serves as a reflecting face for reflecting light propagating inside the intermediate light guide. The outer side face of the intermediate light guide is provided with a prism face having a plurality of grooves of wedge-shaped cross section, and a reflective film formed thereon. The prism face is provided distant from an end face of the intermediate light guide close to the light emitting element.

  • Patent number: 7029158
Abstract: A hollow backlight module includes a first light guide plate, a second light guide plate, two light sources, a reflecting plate and a diffusing film. The first light guide plate and the second light guide plate form a hollow light-guiding zone therebetween. The two light sources are located respectively at two sides of the hollow light-guiding zone. The reflecting plate is located between the outer surface of the second light guide plate. The diffusing film is located above the outer surface of the first light guide plate. Lights emitted from the light sources first enter the hollow light-guiding zone and then into the first and the second light guide plates. The reflecting plate reflects the lights back to the hollow light-guiding zone. The diffusing film diffuses the light projected from the first light guide plate and outputs uniform lights.
