Abstract: The disclosed subject matter includes an LED lighting unit that uses a light guide, and a thin vehicle lamp using the light guide and which can conform to light distribution standards for vehicle lamps. The LED lighting unit can include a light guide having one flat surface formed with many light diffusing patterns, a plurality of LEDs located along one end surface of the light guide, and a reflection board including a reflector located on a bend portion thereof. The reflection board can be located adjacent and extend along the one flat surface of the light guide. The one flat surface can form a large light distribution area with a uniform brightness. The reflector located at the bend portion of the reflection board can form a narrow light distribution having a maximum brightness at a central portion. Thus, the LED light unit can conform to optical characteristics for a vehicle lamp. A vehicle lamp using the above-described LED light unit can be relatively thin.

Abstract: In a method of forming a thin light guide plate which includes a compression step in an injection molding step, an optical pattern is liable to be adhered to a mold. Further, in removing the light guide plate from the mold using an ejector pin, a stress is concentrated on a local area of the light guide plate thus generating warping, deformation or irregularities in size of the light guide plate. To overcome such drawbacks, a liquid crystal display device is configured such that an optical pattern portion is compressed, and the light guide plate is removed by making use of a peripheral portion of a mold thus preventing the generation of stress in a local area of the light guide plate due to an ejector pin.

Abstract: A video display for two or three dimensions has a flat liquid-crystal screen which ejects light from the plane at a selectable line. One or, in the case of a 3-D display, several video projectors project a linear image into the plane from an edge. A complete image is written on the screen by addressing the line with appropriate images as it is scanned down the screen. To screen a three-dimensional image, the video projectors, each projecting an image as seen at a slightly different angle, combine to constitute a three-dimensional display which produces a three-dimensional image that is one line high.
