The platter is rotationally mounted to the front surface of the plinth so that a diameter of the platter is nearly vertical above the base. The tone arm is secured to the front surface of the base.

In order to provide an improved lighting system for generating lighting effects, the lighting system comprises a screen, the screen having a colored design, a circuit board with at least a first lighting device and a second lighting device, wherein the first lighting device is configured to radiate a first light cone and the second lighting device is configured to radiate a second light cone and wherein the first light cone and the second light cone intersect on the screen, and a controller for modifying the first light cone independently of the second light cone.

Light rays from a bank of differently colored lights are directed both to a mirrored rotating globe and to a rear reflecting panel behind the globe. A plurality of reflecting part-spherical domes and pyramidal-like projections are arranged on the rear panel and are configurated to reflect at least some of the impinging light rays back to the globe for subsequent reflection therefrom.
