  • Patent number: 8248271
Abstract: In accordance with one aspect of the present exemplary embodiment, an LED lamp is provided. In one embodiment, the LED lamp is made to be mounted in a traffic signal housing that includes other lamps, where the LED lamp can be red, yellow, green or another color and can represent a full ball aspect, an arrow aspect or another aspect. The LED lamp is adapted to be powered by an external power source and includes an input power circuit receiving an input voltage from the external power source. The input power circuit includes a power detection circuit that is adapted to determine a power state of the traffic LED lamp. The LED lamp further includes an LED load and a battery powered driving circuit. The battery power driving circuit drives the LED load if the power state of the LED lamp is in a power failure state.

  • Patent number: 8064225
Abstract: A reactor arrangement for alternating electrical currents includes, for each alternating electrical current, different coils (105, 107, 105a, 107a) for positive and negative half-cycles of that alternating electrical current. The negative and positive half-cycles of the alternating electrical current are directed to the different coils with the aid of unidirectional electrical components (106, 108, 106a, 108a) such as, for example, diodes. All coils are arranged to magnetize a common magnetic core element (104) in a same direction. Therefore, from the viewpoint of the magnetization of the magnetic core element, the flowing directions of the alternating electrical currents are not significant. Hence, the common-mode inductance of the reactor arrangement has substantially a same value as the differential-mode inductance.

The negative and positive half-cycles of the alternating electrical current are directed to the different coils with the aid of unidirectional electrical components (106, 108) such as, for example, diodes. The both coils are arranged to magnetize a common magnetic core element (104) in a same direction. The reactor arrangement further includes at least one permanent magnet (109) that generates, into the magnetic core element, a biasing magnetic flux component having an opposite direction than that of magnetic flux components generated with the coils. Therefore, the biasing magnetic flux component generated with the permanent magnet relieves magnetic saturation of the magnetic core element. Hence, the size and the weight of the magnetic core element can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 7944085
Abstract: A multiple output switching power source apparatus includes first and second switching elements Q1 and Q2, a first series resonant circuit connected in parallel with Q1 or Q2 and having a first current resonant capacitor and a primary winding of a transformer that are connected in series, a first rectifying-smoothing circuit to rectify and smooth a voltage generated by a secondary winding of the transformer, a second series resonant circuit connected in parallel with the secondary winding and having a second current resonant capacitor and a second resonant reactor that are connected in series, a second rectifying-smoothing circuit to rectify and smooth a voltage of the second series resonant circuit, and a control circuit to determine an ON period of Q1 according to a voltage obtained from one of the first and second rectifying-smoothing circuits, determine an ON period of Q2 according to a voltage obtained from the other of the first and second rectifying-smoothing circuits, and alternately turn on/off Q1 an

  • Patent number: 4901213
Abstract: A magnetic frequency triplo-multiplier for use as a power source for metal melting furnaces and the like. The frequency triplo-multiplier has Y-connected primary windings that are resonant with each phase of a three-phase alternating-current power source and serially-connected secondary windings that are resonant with a triple frequency so as to produce a large single-phase power. The frequency triplo-multiplier uses a five-legged iron core, and capacitors connected in parallel with first, third and fifth leg windings of the five-legged iron core to bring about resonance with the three-phase alternating-current power source, while second and fourth leg windings of the five-legged iron core are connected in series and shunted by a capacitor so as to bring about resonance with a triple frequency.

  • Patent number: 4860183
Abstract: In this planar linear pulse motor, first and second assemblies are mutually movable along an axial line. The first assembly includes a group of teeth which are arranged at a determinate pitch in a row along a line parallel to this axial line, each of these teeth being elongated in a direction perpendicular to the axial line. The second assembly includes four groups of teeth, each such group being arranged at the same determinate pitch also in a row along a line parallel to the axial line, with the phases of the four groups of teeth being offset from one another, and with each of these teeth also being elongated in a direction perpendicular to the axial line. The four groups of teeth of this second assembly each confront the group of teeth of the first assembly in parallel and are separated from those teeth by a relatively small gap.

  • Patent number: 4464559
Abstract: An electric welder has magnetic cores with windings thereon which perform the functions of transformer windings as well as the functions of magnetic amplifier windings. The secondary windings, on each pair of those magnetic cores, are connected in series relation; and, similarly, the control windings on that pair of magnetic cores are connected in series relation. One of those control windings can have the voltage across it reduced to essentially-zero to cause a high voltage to be developed across the control winding on the other of that pair of magnetic cores--with consequent prompt saturation of that other magnetic core and with the development of an output pulse by the secondary windings on that pair of magnetic cores.
