  • Patent number: 11832682
Abstract: An upper component for an article of footwear allows easy entry of the foot into the article of footwear. The upper component includes a heel body, which includes a first portion partially defining an ankle opening. The heel body further includes a second portion coupled to the first portion. The second portion is foldable and partially defines the ankle opening. The second portion is movable relative to the first portion between an unfolded configuration and a folded configuration. The upper component includes at least one tension member coupled to the second portion. The tension member is movable relative to the first portion to move the second portion from the unfolded configuration to the folded configuration. The ankle opening is larger when the second portion is in the unfolded configuration than when the second portion is in the folded configuration.

  • Patent number: 8322864
Abstract: A projection system incorporating a prism with dual total internal reflection function, to increase the performance of DLP™ projection, by offering a solution to combine 2 light paths to contribute to the brightness on the screen and at the same time rejecting flat-state and off-state light from entering the projection lens thereby enhancing contrast. In one implementation those two light paths can be collecting light from 2 different light sources which are driven in a pulsed manner with a duty cycle of approximately 50% for each of the two light sources at increased power. In a second implementation with a color sequential single DMD™ projector, while one light path passes a primary color the second light path passes the complementary secondary color. A special color transformation algorithm is proposed to transform the image input signals to make optimal use of the capabilities offered by the second implementation, and create maximum brightness and color saturation of the image.

  • Patent number: 8187070
Abstract: A system and method for implementing a game of chance based on historical events. The method consists of randomly selecting a set of competitors from an event database. The competitors are presented to a player. A set of criteria comprising a subset of the competitors are received from the player. The database of events is filtered to produce a set of events comprising those events that match the set of criteria. A single event is randomly selected from the set of events to determine an outcome for the game.

  • Patent number: 7916507
Abstract: Disclosed is a high voltage inverter for converting DC power to AC power with one or more AC output phases. The inverter has for each AC output phase an AC input phase circuit comprising first and second cold cathode field emission controllable electron tubes of triode, tetrode or pentode structure. Each electron tube has a first input node for connection to a high voltage DC potential in excess of 20 KV and a second input node for connection to ground. First electron tube is serially connected between a first end of a primary winding and ground, and second electron tube is serially connected between a second end of the primary winding and ground. Control circuitry controls the electron tubes so that the first and second electron tubes alternatively conduct so as to alternately bring the first and then second end of the primary winding approximately to the potential of ground.

  • Publication number: 20100118567
Abstract: A power supply adjusting apparatus includes a primary isolation converting unit, adapted to convert voltage or current of an input power supply signal and output a power supply signal that meets an expected voltage or current requirement. The power supply adjusting apparatus also includes a voltage adjustment controlling unit, adapted to output an adjustment control signal with respect to the output voltage according to an expected output voltage and a tracked signal provided by a powered apparatus. Further, the power supply adjusting apparatus includes a secondary non-isolation adjusting and converting unit, adapted to convert the power supply signal outputted by the primary isolation converting unit to an expected voltage according to the adjustment control signal outputted by the voltage adjustment controlling unit and output the adjusted power supply signal.

  • Patent number: 7168190
Abstract: An article of footwear including an upper formed of a flexible upper material and a sole formed of a flexible sole material, wherein the sole is rolled, folded, or collapsed onto itself to reduce the volume of the article of footwear. The article of footwear in a collapsed state can then be packaged in a container. This container can be dispensed by a vending machine in a convenient urban area.

  • Patent number: 5790654
Abstract: A space and power efficient digitally controlled, all solid state, DC to AC converter powered by low voltage DC, typically found in logic circuits, that generate a high voltage low frequency AC output with a low slew rate waveform, suitable for activation of an electro-mechanical bell or electronic ringer in a telephone. The present invention is particularly suited for application in small, wireless terminals used to provide telephone services via satellite or terrestrial radio to single users or a small number of users as found in a PBX. The present invention is also particularly suited for battery or solar powered equipment where power efficiency is of significant value.

  • Patent number: 5566061
Abstract: A control device for a power conversion system with a plurality of power converters, each of which is provided with a DC power source, a DC reactor and a unit converter composed of self-turn-off switching devices with DC terminals connected to the DC power source through the DC reactor, in which AC terminals of the plurality of unit converters are connected in common and is connected to an AC load. The control device includes a first unit for generating an instruction value vector for an AC output current of the power conversion system, a second unit for generating a set of actual value vectors showing all of the AC output currents that can be generated by the power conversion system, a third unit for selecting a closest actual value vector that is closest to the instruction value vector out of the set of the actual value vectors, and a fourth unit for controlling the self-turn-off switching devices in the unit converters in response to the closest actual value vector.

  • Patent number: 4209711
Abstract: Chopped current is supplied to an inductive load from a DC source that is switched by a pair of transistors having stacked emitter-collector paths between terminals of the source. Bases of the transistors are driven so that current can be supplied to the load from the source through the emitter-collector path of a first of the transistors during a first interval while the emitter-collector path of a second of the transistors is cut off. Current can flow from the load through the emitter-collector path of the second transistor during a second interval while the emitter-collector path of the first transistor is cut off. A diode bridge circuit connected between the emitter-collector paths and to the load, as well as to a bias circuit for one of the transistors, prevents current flow through the emitter-collector path of the first transistors while the second transistor is conducting regardless of the tendency of the base drive for the transistors to render the transistors simultaneously into a conducting state.
