  • Patent number: 10590770
Abstract: A reversing mechanism for a pneumatically or hydraulically powered tool having a rotor adapted to rotate in either of first and second rotational directions. The reversing mechanism allows a user to actuate a button and rotate a valve to direct air flow through the tool. By pressing the button, the button will move a base laterally, and in doing so, rotates the valve. Rotating the valve then aligns a barrier of the valve in a direction tangential to the selected rotational direction of the tool, better directing forced air or fluid and more efficiently distributing the air or fluid in the selected rotational direction.

  • Patent number: 10227737
Abstract: A compaction machine includes a frame and a compactor drum. The compactor drum includes a vibratory system and a support structure. The vibratory system includes a vibratory mechanism coupled to the support structure. The vibratory mechanism includes a cavity having a radial outer wall. The radial outer wall is curved and is eccentric with respect to an axis of rotation of the vibratory system. Further, the radial outer wall extends around the axis of rotation. The vibratory mechanism also includes a non-fixed weight provided within the cavity. The non-fixed weight is adapted to move within the cavity. A movement of the non-fixed weight within the cavity generates multiple vibration amplitudes as the vibratory system rotates in a first direction and a second direction. The first direction is opposite to the second direction.

  • Patent number: 4759659
Abstract: A vibratory drum soil or asphalt compactor has a variable vibratory mechanism selectively operable to vary the vibrations imparted to the drum from a balanced mode to a maximum amplitude vibratory mode independently of the vibratory mechanism shaft rotation. A shaft having a shaft chamber for accommodating fluid is rotatably mounted on the drum. The shaft is equipped with a cylinder having a cylinder chamber connected with a passage to the shaft chamber. A piston closing the cylinder chamber and slidably mounted on the cylinder supports an eccentric weight. A control piston located with the shaft chamber operated by an external linear actuator is operable to move the piston away from the cylinder thereby move the weight into engagement with the shaft to balance the shaft and allow the weight to move away from the shaft to produce maximum vibration upon rotation of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4653927
Abstract: A rotary air roller vibrator is depicted in which a housing has a cylindrical bore closed by two inner end plates which form a chamber. An axial shaft is fixed between these end plates and has a longitudinally disposed slot within which is slideably mounted a vane having a plurality of formed side-opening slots that are opened when the vane is lifted under the influence of pressurized air. A cylindrical rotor having an inner diameter greater than the diameter of the shaft is also sized so that the outer diameter is carried on two races pressed into place at the ends of the housing. These races are sized to prevent the rotor from striking the shaft. Each of these end plates has outer exhaust apertures arrayed in a three-quarter circle pattern and in secured position these apertures are aligned.

  • Patent number: 4389137
Abstract: An oscillator or vibration exciter for soil or road tampers or compacting devices. Unbalanced shafts are journalled parallel to each other in a common housing, and are driven in opposite directions by gears which mesh with each other and are installed on the unbalanced shafts. Each shaft supports a centrifugal weight rigidly coupled therewith. One gear is rigidly connected with its unbalanced shaft, while the other gear is rotatably arranged on its unbalanced shaft and is coupled therewith in such a way that it can be shifted in the direction of rotation by shift pins, which are anchored in a slide piece which can be axially shifted in this unbalanced shaft. The shift pins project outwardly through a longitudinal slot in the unbalanced shaft. This other rotatable gear, on both sides, has stop faces which extend nearly radially as well as axially, and point in the same rotational direction. A shift pin is provided on each side of this gear, one end of each shift pin projecting from the unbalanced shaft.
