  • Patent number: 10773226
Abstract: A sanitary mixing tank steady bearing is replaceable without lifting a mixing tank shaft. The steady bearing is insertable into and removable from the bottom of a bearing support attached inside the base of the sanitary mixing tank. The steady bearing may thus be replaced by a service technician working through a man way/man hole on the top of the tank allowing service without lifting the mixing tank shaft. Gaps are provided between the bearing support and steady bearing allowing flushing material from around the steady bearing to easily maintain a sanitary environment.

  • Patent number: 6855299
Abstract: The disclosed apparatus includes a stator and a rotor disposed for rotation within the stator. An inner wall of the stator defines one or more collider chambers. Rotation of the rotor causes movement of fluid disposed between the rotor and stator and establishes a rotational flow pattern within the collider chambers. The fluid movement induced by the rotor increases the temperature, density, and pressure of the fluid in the collider chamber.

Abstract: A draft tube mixing system or reactor wherein the draft tube contains slots, perforations, or cut-out sections that allow cross flow of fluid through the draft tube wall. The perforations or slots can be practically any shape, however, simple geometric shapes such as rectangles and circles are preferred for ease of manufacture. The perforations or slots are typically arrayed in columns along a substantial section of the draft tube. In a preferred embodiment, the quantity and position of the perforations are such that a fluid filling the draft tube is capable of cross flow through the draft tube wall along substantially its entire length.

  • Patent number: 5866201
Abstract: A mixing system with a vessel for supplying a liquid and a device for supplying solid pieces to mix with the liquid. The system has an elongate enclosure with a first end opposing a second end. The enclosure defines a chamber in fluid communication with the vessel to receive the liquid. The chamber also has a inlet and an outlet with the inlet being closer to the first end than the outlet. The chamber receives the pieces from the device through the inlet and issues the pieces through the outlet. A motor driven mixing auger positioned in the chamber between the first and second ends rotates a selected direction about a rotational axis to intermix the liquid and pieces. The auger includes a first helical flight between the inlet and the outlet to convey the pieces from the inlet to the outlet when the shaft is rotated the selected direction. The auger also includes a second helical flight between the first flight and the second end to urge the solid pieces in a direction opposite the first flight.

  • Patent number: 5261745
Abstract: An improved mixing apparatus for mixing a liquid and a particulate solid material within a container such that the pigments and/or other solid particulate materials, which are initially precipitated out and usually accumulated at the bottom of the container, are rapidly and thoroughly mixed and dispersed throughout the liquid in a uniform manner such that substantially all of the particulate material is dispersed within the liquid. In one embodiment, a flow pattern in the form of an inverted vortex rising from the bottom center of the container is created by a rotating frusto-conically shaped impeller to pull the particulate material away from the bottom of the container. In another embodiment, the apparatus includes a cover mechanism, which is made to function integrally with the mixing apparatus, and which covers the container during the mixing operation to prevent the escape of fumes or spray.

  • Patent number: 5037209
Abstract: A stirring mechanism, with a plurality of hollow, at least partially conically shaped stirring elements, which are provided with two openings, are symmetrically offset and are fixed on the stirring shaft (2) at least approximately tangential to an imaginary circular cylinder coaxial to the stirring shaft. In the starting phase, the stirred substance flows laminarly through the stirring elements 8. However, as soon as they have reached a predetermined minimum velocity of about 1.3 m/s, the flow inside the stirring elements 8 is forced to reverse by dynamic pressure. The resultant counterflow (11, 12, 13) brings about an outstanding, extensive and nevertheless extremely gentle stirring effect with low power consumption. Also, an effective and uniform gassing can be obtained with simple means, without the stirring velocity having to be increased.

  • Patent number: 4953985
Abstract: An apparatus for mixing liquid paint colorant in a plurality of containers. Flexible cables are rotated about their length by a drive motor to rotate agitators in each container. The cable ends which drive the agitators are aligned with the rotational axes of the agitators. Each container has an open upper end which is closed by a cover having an attached mechanism for imparting rotation from the cables to the agitators. The agitators are disabled by disengaging one end of the cable from the drive motor, disengaging the other end of the cable from the mechanism on the container cover, or removing the cover with the cable intact to separate the mechanism from the agitator. The cables are bowed in an inverted U-shape between the drive motor and container covers. A lid extends over the bowed cables and has a rim that bears against the container covers to maintain them in closed position on the container during operation.

  • Patent number: 4932787
Abstract: A steady bearing for supporting the extended end of an impeller shaft at the bottom of a mixing vessel provides adjustment for the alignment of the position of the shaft within the vessel and includes a bearing support stand with legs extending to the bottom of the tank or vessel, and a plate which is supported off of the bottom. A steady bearing housing has a bearing sleeve which receives the end of the shaft and has a mounting flange which extends radially of the housing and is mounted or received in abutting relation to the bearing support plate. Couplers in the form of slotted circular discs are received in recesses in the bearing housing mounting flange. The slots have threaded fasteners which extend therethrough and into the support plate, so that the radial position of the steady bearing housing with respect to the support stand may be made accompanied by rotational movement of the coupler discs within their respective recesses.
