With Motor Drive Patents (Class 366/282)
  • Patent number: 4854719
Abstract: Grain stirring apparatus includes a stirrer and a stirrer drive motor which are supported on a carrier which is reciprocably movable along a rotatable shaft, the shaft being supported on a carriage for movement in a direction transverse to the movement of the carrier along the shaft. A roller frictionally engages the shaft and is supported on a support member which is supported on the carrier for shiftable pivotal movement about a fixed shift axis between two positions, for effecting reciprocable rectilinear movement of the stirrer carrier along the shaft. The roller support member includes a gear which is meshed with a pair of gears which are journalled on the carrier for rotation about axes in fixed relation to the carrier and which carry members for engagement with members which project from the shaft, to shift the support member from one position to the other.

  • Patent number: 4847007
Abstract: For bonding particularly radioactive wastes into a binder, a transporting and mixing device is used which transports the mixture to a storage tank prior to the hardening. The wastes are transported into the mixing zone by gravity and aided by the conveyor helix which also imparts additional wall cleaning action through the dry conveyor zone. A single or multi-component binder is concurrently transported in a direction lateral to the mixing tool to the mixing zone. The mixture is conducted in a straight-line extension of the transport and mixing direction to an outlet to which the storage tank is connected.

  • Patent number: 4813786
Abstract: A fluid mixing unit (10) for agitating, mixing and/or blending fluids (41) held in a container (11). The mixing unit (10) has an impeller module (12) that may be relatively permanently affixed to the container (11). An impeller shaft (24) is rotatably mounted in the impeller module (12) to rotate an impeller (37) secured to the shaft (24) and disposed interiorly of the container (11). The mixing unit (10) also includes a power module (14) that may be demountably secured to the impeller module (12) by virtue of a fast make/break connector (15). The first component (55) of the make/break connector (15) is presented from the impeller module (12), and the second component (79) thereof is presented from the power module (14). A quick connect coupling (48) effects a driving connection between the power module (14) and the impeller shaft (24). A locking means (85) may be employed to prevent at least inadvertent disengagement of said fast make/break connector (15).

  • Patent number: 4721392
Abstract: A method and a device for installation of a mixer in a liquid tank is provided wherein the mixer is brought downwards into the tank along a guide which is pivotally attached in the upper part of the tank. During operation the reaction force from the impeller will cause the guide to pivot making the mixer take support against the tank wall.

  • Patent number: 4666676
Abstract: Apparatus for use in processing radioactive waste materials for shipment and storage in solid form in a container is disclosed. The container includes a top, and an opening in the top which is smaller than the outer circumference of the container. The apparatus includes an enclosure into which the container is placed, solution feed apparatus for adding a solution containing radioactive waste materials into the container through the container opening, and at least one rotatable blade for blending the solution with a fixing agent such as cement or the like as the solution is added into the container. The blade is constructed so that it can pass through the opening in the top of the container. The rotational axis of the blade is displaced from the center of the blade so that after the blade passes through the opening, the blade and container can be adjusted so that one edge of the blade is adjacent the cylindrical wall of the container, to insure thorough mixing.

  • Patent number: 4416549
Abstract: An apparatus for agitating and pumping a liquid slurry, such as liquid manure slurry. The apparatus includes a pump which is adapted to be positioned within the lower end of a pit that contains the slurry, and the pump is operably connected to a motor which is located above the pit. The motor-pump unit is mounted for sliding vertical movement on a fixed column and can also be rotated horizontally relative to the column to vary the position of the outlet of the pump during agitation of the slurry. The apparatus also includes a means for tilting the motor-pump unit with respect to the fixed column. When the pump is raised to a location adjacent the top of the pit, the motor-pump unit can be tilted in a vertical plane to move the pump out of the pit to a position where it can be repaired or maintained.

  • Patent number: 4184779
Abstract: An automatic stirring device for stirring the contents of a cooking utensil includes a plurality of support arms. The support arms have insert pads to grip the sides of a cooking utensil. An agitator with a center post and agitator blades extends downward into the cooking utensil and a motor, mounted in one of the support arms with a drive shaft driving a central gear, rotates the agitator. One of the insert pads is slidably mounted to its support arm and may be operated to exert an inward force against the side of the cooking utensil to retain the stirring device on the utensil. A support pin may be screwed into the outer end of each support arm to prevent rotation of the stirring device about the cooking utensil by contacting the handle of the utensil and also to support the stirring device in a bath of soapy water for automatic cleaning. The agitator blades are adjustable to fit various sized utensils.
