  • Patent number: 7887230
Abstract: A mixer is provided that is configured for attachment to a power tool for mixing a viscous material, and includes a shaft defining a shaft axis, and a plurality of paddles attached to the shaft and extending radially from the shaft. All of the paddles have generally the same axial distance to the first end of the shaft, and the paddles are configured for rotation about the shaft axis in a direction of rotation. Each of the paddles has a general ā€œSā€-shape defined between a top end and a bottom end of the paddle, and between a leading surface and a trailing surface of the paddle.

  • Patent number: 7816127
Abstract: A waste treatment apparatus decomposes waste by the microorganisms to perform annihilation treatment. The waste treatment apparatus includes a treatment tank which accommodates the microorganisms together with the waste, and an agitation device arranged to agitate the microorganisms together with the waste. The agitation device includes a plurality of agitating tools arranged at predetermined intervals in the axial direction of a rotation shaft. The agitating tools have paddle arms, respectively, which are disposed so as to be opposed to each other in a diameter direction of the rotation shaft, and blades, respectively, which are disposed at predetermined distances apart from an inner wall of the treatment tank and are inclined with respect to the axis of the paddle arms. The blade on one side is inclined forward in a direction in which the front side thereof with respect to the rotation direction of the paddle arm approaches the rotation shaft.

  • Patent number: 7585105
Abstract: Certain embodiments of the present invention provide a scraper assembly. For example, in one embodiment, a scraper assembly comprises: a substantially rigid member; a pin with a first end and a second end, wherein a tab protrudes from a side of the first end and the second end is attached to the substantially rigid member; a scraper head with a hole therethrough that is large enough to receive the pin, wherein the scraper head has a first channel that runs the depth of the scraper head and is large enough to receive the tab, and wherein the scraper head has a second channel that does not run the depth of the scraper head and is large enough to receive the tab; and a coil spring, wherein the coil spring is disposed around the pin and is held captive between the substantially rigid member and the scraper head.

  • Patent number: 6712499
Abstract: A compression-paddle mixer has a compression paddle (1) that includes paddle blades (3) juxtaposed colinearly to a paddle rod (5). The paddle blades include one or more sets (2) of two paddle blades having channel-funneled orientation on paddle spokes (4) that are extended radially from the paddle rod. The channel-funneled orientation includes channel-funnel inlets (9) having inlet areas between leading-edges of sets of the paddle blades that are larger than inlet areas of channel-funnel outlets (11) between trailing-edges of the sets of the paddle blades in a direction of rotation of the paddle blades transmitted by rotation of the paddle rod. The compression paddle can be sized, shaped and structured for use with select sizes, shapes and structures of mix containers for select mixing applications.

  • Publication number: 20030235110
Abstract: In a method for reproducible dissolution of a pharmaceutical product in a dissolution medium contained within a vessel, a flow regime characterized by high turbidity and low bulk movement of dissolution medium is induced within the vessel. Simultaneously, solid particles of the pharmaceutical product on a bottom portion of the vessel are mechanically dispersed. Induction of the flow regime and mechanical dispersion of solid particles may be accomplished by a brush body adapted to sweep a bottom portion of the vessel. The brush body is repeatably biased into contact with the bottom portion of the vessel, and caused to rotate in a controlled manner.

  • Publication number: 20030058735
Abstract: A mixing device for low speed precision mixing of contents of a vessel has a support member adapted to be rotatably supported in spaced relationship from a bottom portion of the vessel and separated therefrom by a gap, and a brush assembly depending from the support member for sliding engagement with the bottom portion of the vessel. Low speed rotation of the support member within the vessel causes the brush assembly to sweep the bottom portion of the vessel while mixing the contents of the vessel. The brush assembly can be made of a resilient coil or a plurality of filamentary or lamellar elements, affixed to the support member. This device provides controlled and repeatable mixing and is well suited for use in drug dissolution measurement apparatuses used for assessing drug release characteristics of solid oral pharmaceutical products.
