  • Publication number: 20080247267
Abstract: In a method of cleaning a rotary mixing device having a mixer portion and a driving shaft, a shield is located over at least the mixer portion. The mixing device is rotated, expelling material clinging to or trapped by the mixing portion, such as paint, from the mixer portion of the mixing device. This material is blocked or caught by the shield. In one embodiment, the shield is cylindrical in shape and has a base with an opening through which the shaft of the mixing device may extend, and an open second end leading to an interior area for containing the mixer portion of the mixing device.

  • Patent number: 7144150
Abstract: The present application describes a method for rinsing a splash shield. According to the disclosed method, a vessel containing contents to be mixed is positioned in a mixing machine, and a splash shield is positioned over the opening of the vessel. After the material within the vessel is mixed by a mixing element, the splash shield is separated from the vessel and rinsed by a nozzle on the mixing machine. In another embodiment, a vessel containing contents to be mixed is positioned in a holder on a mixing machine, and a splash shield (which may or may not be rinseable) is positioned over the opening of the vessel. The contents of the vessel are mixed using a mixing element. During and/or after mixing, opposed relative movement of the mixing element and vessel may occur, creating an upward lifting force on the vessel. The weight of the shield is sufficient to overcome this upward lifting force on the vessel and thereby causes the vessel to remain seated in the holder.

The shield is a basically thin round disk of rigid plastic material having a slot extending from the outer edge to the center. The slot is the unique feature that sets the invention apart from all previous attempts to invent a mixer shield. All other invented shields have had a central aperture or pair of holes or have had various parts resulting in various complicated fitting and attachments. What is new is that it is a one-piece mixer shield but is not a lid (except as an option can fit as a lid for the stand mixer). New also is the fact that it will work equally well on any hand-held or stationary mixer or industrial mixer; only sizes will vary.

Abstract: A splash guard is provided for a food mixer, such as a hand-held mixer or a stand mixer, comprising a wavy, plate-like member that is adapted to cover the opening of a mixing bowl. The splash guard is secured to the mixer by portions of the splash guard that mate with the sides of the mixer body. More particularly, the splash guard has mutually-opposed flanges that are received in outwardly-open, longitudinally-extending grooves formed in the sides of the mixer body. The grooves in the mixer body can be specially provided for mounting the splash guard or they can be formed in a conventional manner at the junction of two body parts secured together to form the mixer body. The splash guard includes a transverse retainer strap that gives rigidity to the splash guard structure. Snap-fitting and sliding methods of assembling the splash guard onto the mixer body are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6068875
Abstract: A method for preparing a flavored slurried confection includes the use of a disposable serving container holding an individual serving of a neutral flavored mix which has a freezing point temperature lower than normally found for that of water. A large supply of the mix filled containers is stored in a storage freezer for maintaining the neutral flavored mix at a storage temperature, such as is typical of a food storage freezer for a restaurant. A desired quantity of the mix filled containers is then transferred from the storage freezer to a tempering freezer, generally close to a preparation and serving area, for maintaining the neutral flavored mix at a desirable blending temperature. The mix filled container is then removed from the tempering freezer for preparation of a flavored confection, such as a flavored shake.

Abstract: An enclosure apparatus for processing devices includes a portion movable between an open position and a closed position. A receptacle in which items to be processed are contained is placed within the enclosure when the movable portion is in the open position. Upon securing the enclosure about the receptacle, the enclosure engages a lid covering the receptacle to maintain the lid in position within the receptacle. Engagement of the lid by the enclosure causes the lid to flex outwardly and seal against the receptacle opening. A switch may be interposed between the enclosure and the processing device to immediately initiate a blending cycle at the moment the enclosure is secured about the processing receptacle.

  • Patent number: 5948461
Abstract: A flavored shake drink is prepared from a prepackaged neutral flavored mix stored within a container. A flavored syrup is selected and dispensed through a bar gun styled dispenser in fluid communication with bag-in-box stored packages containing a variety of flavored syrups. A protective sleeve is placed within various size containers typically representing a small, medium and large size, wherein the sleeve permits blending within a standard fountain mixer and prevents the contents of the container from splashing onto the surrounding counter or on the container outside walls. In this way, the container used to store the prepackaged neutral mix and used to blend added ingredients is again used as the container holding the shake for the customer. The method provides a cost effective and health code conscience method for providing multi-flavored shakes.

  • Patent number: 5944417
Abstract: A method of mixing substances through the optimal utilization of their gravities in a simple and easy way. The apparatus comprises a spherical container for mixing having a chamber which is hollow to provide a space for the substances to mix. In the spherical container which is rotated vertically as slow as possible, that is, substantially in a centrifugal force-free state, all substances fall in an identical pattern of movement regardless of their specific gravities. The substances mingle with each other uniformly during such movements. A device for changing direction of rotation enables the manual changing of the direction of rotation of the spherical container in mid-cycle horizontally at 90 degrees and continue the vertical rotation by the same number of rotations as before to provide evenly mixed substances. The spherical container has an outlet for discharging the mixed substances. The spherical container is disposed within a rotary ring journalled to a base with a cover and is manually rotated by hand.
