Abstract: Method and apparatus for automatically displaying a correct time and date when initially activating a clock. After manufacture of the clock and before it is purchased by the user, a basic data set, including the time and geographical region data, are input to the clock via an interface. The data are stored in a memory of a microcontroller. After purchase by a user, the clock is plugged into a power grid and the correct time and date are displayed without the need to set the clock.

  • Patent number: 7154818
Abstract: Disclosed is a radio controlled clock movement control system, including two stepper motors, two gearings, and a photo electronic control unit. The two stepper motors are operated independently each one driving a gearing, where the first gearing contains a second wheel, and the second gearing contains an hour wheel and a minute wheel. The photo electronic control unit contains a first photo detector, a second photo detector, and a light source. Multiple through holes are formed in succession over one sector near the rim of the second and minute wheels, which are moved in the direction of rotation over the photo detectors that undertakes to check the minute and second wheels for the zero alignment. Therefore, a radio controlled clock having the present clock movement control system can be self reset in a fast manner.

  • Patent number: 7027363
Abstract: A time measurement system includes a master timepiece and a slave timepiece 3. The master timepiece includes a time signal generating circuit that receives a standard frequency and time signal and generates a time signal being receivable by a motor driving coil 35 of the slave timepiece 3; and a transmitter circuit and a coil that transmit this signal. The slave timepiece 3 includes a time counter 33 that keeps time on the basis of a reference signal; a driving motor with the driving coil 35; a receiver circuit 37 that receives the time signal using the driving coil 35; a control circuit 38 that corrects the time counter 33 on the basis of the received time signal; and a time display unit 36 that displays time. Since the driving coil 35 is used, increases in the number of components and cost are suppressed. The time can be adjusted within a short period of time. Waterproof abilities are improved.

  • Patent number: 6999380
Abstract: A timepiece comprises a standard time clock for counting standard time and means for calculating daylight saving time by adding a predetermined time correction value to the standard time when judging that the standard time is within the period of daylight saving time. When a time input for setting the timepiece is after a daylight saving time starting time as expressed in the standard time and before a daylight saving time starting time as expressed in daylight saving time, the timepiece corrects the input time by adding the time correction value thereto and sets the corrected time as daylight saving time for the standard time clock. A monitoring camera device comprises the timepiece. Time data output from the timepiece when an image is captured is added as image capturing time data to image data obtained by capturing the image.
