Patent number: 9438649Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and software for providing warped event presentations in calendars. A calendar is set to an active time zone and a period of time is identified within which to display a warped presentation of events scheduled to occur outside of the active time zone. For at least an event scheduled to occur outside of the active time zone at a time in a different time zone that falls within the period of time, the event is presented in the calendar as if the event were scheduled for that time, but in the active time zone.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2014Date of Patent: September 6, 2016Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventor: Paul R. Patent number: 9432466Abstract: Techniques for inferring a time zone of a user (e.g., a member of an online social network service) are described. According to various embodiments, it is determined that a particular member of an online social networks service is currently located in a particular country. Responsive to determining that a single time zone is associated with the particular country, it is determined that the particular member is currently located in the single time zone. Responsive to determining that multiple time zones are associated with the particular country, an IP address associated with a user login request is accessed, a geographic location associated with the IP address is identified, and a specific one of the multiple time zones that corresponds to the geographic location is identified. It is determined that the particular member is currently located in the specific time zone.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2014Date of Patent: August 30, 2016Assignee: LinkedIn CorporationInventors: Ravi Kiran Holur Vijay, Benjamin Arai, Mark Hull, Utku Irmak, Pramod Khincha, Samir M. Patent number: 9383728Abstract: The present invention discloses a method, a device, a server, and a system for configuring daylight saving time, belonging to the field of communications. The method includes: receiving, by a CPE, a message carrying a daylight saving time rule parameter; if a daylight saving time enable flag displays that daylight saving time is enabled, extracting, by the CPE, the daylight saving time rule parameter from the message; obtaining the current year of the CPE; and obtaining start time or end time of daylight saving time according to the current year and the daylight saving time rule parameter. The system includes a CPE and a server. The CPE includes a receiving module, an extracting module, a first obtaining module, and a second obtaining module. The server includes a generating module and a sending module. Through the present invention, daylight saving time can be configured in a single attempt and used permanently.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 2013Date of Patent: July 5, 2016Assignee: Huawei Device Co., Ltd.Inventor: Tiejun Wu
