Plural Time Zones Patents (Class 368/21)
  • Patent number: 9760869
Abstract: This disclosure concerns visualizing multiple time zones in a calendar. A processor receives trip data that identifies a trip day, a first time zone of a departure location and a second time zone of an arrival location. The processor determines time gained or time lost due to travelling from the first time zone into the second time zone and causes the display of a time range and a graphical element. The time range represents the trip day with time values extending to the end of the trip day. The end of the trip day is relative to the first time zone. The graphical element extends from the day change and has an extension based on the difference between first and second time zones, such that the graphical element indicates the determined time gained or time lost due to travelling from the first time zone into the second time zone.

Abstract: A wireless positioning terminal includes a wireless receiver receiving reception signals from a wireless transmitter via multiple communication links. A multi-link-base reception informational item is determined by evaluating reception signals via the communication links. The multi-link-base reception informational item, which has a value varying with a position of the wireless positioning terminal, varies with the position differently from an informational item of a reception signal via one of the communication links. A base trajectory is stored which represents correspondence relation about points between (i) a position of the wireless positioning terminal and (ii) the multi-link-base reception informational item. A measured trajectory is generated which represents correspondence relation about points between (i) a calculated position variation and (ii) the multi-link-base reception informational item.

Abstract: Provided are methods and systems for rendering and displaying an initial layout of a web application (e.g., calendar application), where the layout includes data specific to a time zone determined to be applicable to a user. Server-side rendering of the initial layout is utilized without compromising the correctness of the initial layout if the server-side heuristics fail. The methods and systems are designed such that it is not necessary to “know,” “fingerprint,” or “reverse engineer” the browser's local time zone in order to validate the time data to be displayed with the user's time-bound information (e.g., calendar data) in the web application. Furthermore, meaningful time data can be displayed to the user without the full web application having to execute in the browser.

Abstract: Methods, program products, and systems for multi-tier geofence detection are disclosed. In general, in one aspect, a mobile device can be configured to perform a task when the mobile device enters a geographic region. The mobile device can monitor a current location using a multi-tier approach. A baseband subsystem can monitor a coarse location of the mobile device using various course location parameters, such as a mobile country code (MCC), a location area code (LAC), or a cell identifier (cell ID), as the mobile device moves closer to the geographic region. Upon determining that the mobile device is in a cell that intersects the geographic region, the baseband subsystem can transfer the monitoring to the application subsystem. The task can be performed when the application subsystem determines that the mobile device is currently located in the geographic region.

Abstract: A reception apparatus includes a first determination unit to determine whether a state exists in which timing information and six orbital elements information can be obtained from GPS signals transmitted by only two GPS satellites. When the state exists, a calculation unit calculates a trajectory line having a predetermined width on a surface of the earth, based on the GPS signals transmitted by the two satellites. A second determination unit determines whether the trajectory line traverses a district of use stored by the apparatus. A time correcting unit obtains a current time using the obtained timing information, by correcting the timing information based on a time zone corresponding to the district of use, when the trajectory line traverses the district of use. The time correcting unit does not obtain the current time using the obtained timing information when the trajectory line does not traverse the district of use.

  • Patent number: 8620344
Abstract: Methods, program products, and systems for location-based application program management are described. A mobile device can receive a first application program to be executed in an application subsystem. The first application program can be configured to be invoked or notified when the mobile device is located at a defined location. The mobile device can register the first application program to a second application program that executes in a baseband subsystem. The mobile device can set the application subsystem to a power-saving operating mode. The second application program can monitor a current location of the mobile device. When the mobile device is currently located at the defined location, the second application program can set the application subsystem to an active operating mode, and invoke the first application program.

  • Patent number: 8576670
Abstract: An electronic timepiece has a function for receiving satellite signals transmitted from positioning information satellites for capturable positioning information based on the received satellite signal and a positioning calculation unit that generates positioning information. A time information adjustment unit corrects the internal time information based on the time difference in the assumed positioning region when the time difference evaluation unit determines that the assumed positioning does not contain a time difference boundary. The positioning calculation unit reselects the specific number of positioning information satellites and continues the positioning calculation when the time difference evaluation unit determines that the assumed positioning region contains a time difference boundary. The reception unit terminates satellite signal reception when the time difference evaluation unit determines that the assumed positioning region does not contain a time difference boundary.
