  • Patent number: 11774916
Abstract: An electronic device includes first and second processors, and first and second display units. While the first and second processors cooperate with each other and perform a display operation including a time display, the first processor can be set to a normal mode, a low power mode in which a power consumption is lower than a power consumption in the normal mode, or a pause mode in which a power consumption is lower than the power consumption in the low power mode, and the first processor is stopped. In the normal or low power modes, the first processor controls such that the first display unit displays a time, and the second processor controls such that the second display unit does not display a time. In the pause mode, the first display unit is turned off, and the second processor controls such that the second display unit displays a time.

  • Patent number: 11656579
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide a hybrid smartwatch that incorporates digital technology with an analog timepiece in a wristwatch form factor. A digital display layer of a non-emissive material is configured to present notices, data, content and other information. An analog display layer includes one or more hands of the timepiece, and overlies the digital display layer. The hands may be controlled by a processor through micro-stepper motors or other actuators. Physical motion of the hands provides expressivity, for instance via visual mechatronic effects. This may include buzzing, clapping, providing stylized visual features, hiding or minimizing information, and revealing information. The information presented on the digital display layer is presented concurrently with the hand movement, in a manner that complements the hand motion. This provides a rich, symbiotic dual-display layer arrangement that enhances the capabilities of the digital and analog display layers.

  • Patent number: 8687467
Abstract: A visual display and device and method for producing the display may indicate the time or other data in a bold, elegant, intuitive, and stylistic manner that is easily legible despite obscured vision, viewing distances, or the user's inattentiveness. A minimalistic display may include a shape such as a geometric shape that presents the time by connecting the distal ends of the hour and minute indicators with a possibly time-varying curve. This curve aids in the interpretation of the time. Another embodiment of the invention displays, using a polar coordinate system, two physical parameters on single similar display in an aesthetically-pleasing, elegant, and intuitive method.

  • Patent number: 8379489
Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods for presenting date and time information are described. In some embodiments, a date and/or a time value is presented as a base-36 number. In some embodiments, an integral portion of the base-36 number represents a date value, and a fractional portion of the base-36 number represents a time value. Each base-36 digit may be represented by one of the numerals 0-9 and the letters A-Z. Both digital and analog clocks displaying date and/or time information in which a day is broken into thirty-six increments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8305846
Abstract: A timepiece with LED lights uses a simple light-medium body with a very rough finish to allow light from LED(s) to pass though input-end(s) of the light-medium body and travel within the body and obtain a very even brightness on all surfaces of the light medium that are seen by a viewer. Combined with a milky/frosted front sheet overlay, the light-medium surface can get perfect area illumination effects. The movement for the time display can include analog indicators with a guilt-in light-medium on the top cover to achieve a super slim LED illumination for the time piece. For night light application, the sealed-unit may consist of prong-means and an LED related circuit sealed within a safety standard plastic material and assembled with the night light body to save a lot of cost enable use of all kinds of materials. The invention may also be adapted to an LCD display timepiece.

  • Patent number: 8164985
Abstract: A time display device comprises a dial plate; a plurality of time indication portions set in the dial plate; and a plurality of groups of luminophors. Each of the groups of luminophors corresponds to a time indication portion, and comprises a first luminophor, a second luminophor, and a third luminophor. A clock unit provides current time information. A first switch unit electrifies/powers off the first luminophor. A second switch unit electrifies/powers off the second luminophor. A third switch unit electrifies/powers off the third luminophor. A hour hand controlling module obtains a hour value, and controls the first switch unit to electrify the first luminophor of the time indication portion corresponding to the obtained hour value. A minute hand controlling module obtains the current minute value, and controls the second switch and/or the third switch unit to electrify the corresponding luminophor.

Abstract: The Linear Clock is a clock comprising: a timer circuit for maintaining hours and minutes for the time of day, a segment member having an adjustable length, an hour display showing the hour of the day, and a control circuit. The control circuit is responsive to the timer circuit and coupled to the segment member and the hour display. The control circuit positions the starting point and stopping point of the segment member to adjust the length and position of the segment member thereby indicating the elapsed portion of an hour of the day maintained by the timer circuit. The control circuit also causes the hour display to show the hour of the day.
