Rotary Excavating Tool Patents (Class 37/242)
  • Patent number: 11732430
Abstract: A snow plow-blower operates as a snow plow, snow blower/thrower or as a snow plow-blower combination. The snow plow-blower includes a plow head blade and at least one blower door. The cavity contains a snow moving means, single, dual, or multi staged, for moving snow, ice and other materials out through at least one discharge chute and/or at least one opening. The blower door is adapted to move to a partially open configuration to expose the cavity, and from the partially open configuration to a partially closed configuration to thereby decrease snow, ice and other material ingress into the snow blower unit. Preferably, at least one retractable and extendable wing is located on the plow head blade to advantageously provide varying closed and open extended position configurations or positions for the removal of snow, ice or other material and debris.

Adjacent the opening is a flat plate which is secured to the inside of the enclosure at an angle in order to direct snow upward toward the impeller. The impeller, which is oriented substantially parallel to the surface being cleared, is circular in shape and has radially projecting blades attached to the upper and lower surfaces thereof. Once the snow is directed upward by the angled flat plate, the blades of the impeller, which are rotating at a high speed, force the snow out an exit conduit adjacent the top of the cylindrical enclosure by centrifugal force. The exit conduit directs the snow upward and away from the path being cleared.

  • Patent number: 5410824
Abstract: A scraping implement that can be quickly coupled and uncoupled to a conventional self-propelled snowblower for the removal of snow from a driveway or sidewalk. Drop pins releasably hold the frame of the implement to opposite sides of a snowblower housing. The implement has a concave curved plow mounted on a frame for angle adjustments. A bolt extends through a swivel plate and the frame to hold the plow at the selected position. The frame is laterally adjustable to fit different sized snowblowers.

  • Patent number: 5106165
Abstract: A layer of material such as pavement or sheet ice coating the surface of a roadway is efficiently removed using apparatus that includes a longitudinal tube in a breaker assembly which is rotatably carried by a control frame beam that depends from an articulate hydraulic lift and tilt mechanism of a road grader. Coaxially attached to the tube and uniformly distributed along its length, a number of retainer rings each carry several radially extended teeth that function to fragment the layer. Each tooth includes a tip portion with a free end that penetrates and punctures the layer and a trailing divergent portion which enters the puncture and translates a linear force applied thereto into a radial outward force that fractures and fragments the side walls of each puncture when the breaker assembly is lowered onto the layer and a downward force is applied to each tooth as the breaker assembly rolls over the layer surface.

Abstract: A wheeled platform towable behind a snowthrower to apply a downward force on the traction wheels of the snowthrower. The person operating the snowthrower stands on the platform so that a portion of his/her weight is applied to a towbar that extends from the snowthrower to the platform. The front end of the towbar exerts a downward force on the rear end of the snowthrower.

  • Patent number: 4866862
Abstract: An auxiliary road wiper plow for a motor vehicle is provided and consists of an arm member pivotally connected at one end to underside of an auxiliary frame member which is mounted to underside of frame of the motor vehicle forward of a wheel. A road engageable member is connected to other end of the arm member and positioned at a 45.degree. angle thereto. A road engageable member is connected to other end of the arm member at a 45.degree. angle thereto. A mechanism is also provided for lowering and raising the road engageable member so that it can be selectively engageable with road surface beneath the motor vehicle in front of the wheel for removing snow and water therefrom.
