Mounted On Surface Contacting Support Or Guide Patents (Class 37/270)
  • Patent number: 4905387
Abstract: A snow plow having a curved blade with a bottom scraping edge and rearwardly extending horizontally positioned mounting means. Two wheels each having a hub are each attached to a frame member with an outer cylindrical member having the bottom thereof connected to the associated wheel hub by a horizontally disposed strut and having the top thereof connected to the horizontally disposed strut by an angularly disposed strut. An inner cylindrical member is fixedly mounted to each of the mounting means for each wheel, the inner cylindrical members being adapted to fit inside of an associated one of the outer cylindrical members to mount the two wheels to the snow plow blade, and means providing vertical adjustment of the curved blade with respect to the wheel hub and the ground upon which the wheel rests.

  • Patent number: 4899472
Abstract: Guards, usually used in pairs as replaceable attachments to snow plow blade, are shown. At least one of the pair consists essentially of a panel portion with an integral curb feeler extending therefrom and supported thereby that sweeps around a blade end and reaches rearwardly; the curb feeler extension on its mate is optional. The guards comprise deformable polymer. Advantageously the polymer is laminated with a lamina of a hard metal such as steel that is fitted with an especially abrasion-resistant bottom edge. An assembly of the laminae typically is held together with bolts to the plow, and the laminae can be adhesively bonded together also, if desired.

  • Patent number: 4865373
Abstract: A manually-operated snow shovel has wheels in front of and behind the blade, to position the blade at an angle between 30 degrees and 35 degrees with the horizontal. An angularly bent handle positions grips at about waist height, to permit a person to roll the shovel on the surface being cleaned.

  • Patent number: 4836320
Abstract: A convex pivoting pad mountable to a snow thrower or other handle-directed, small engine equipment and on to which the equipment weight may be shifted to facilitate turning. In one embodiment, the pad is frame-mounted to the equipment by way of a pedestal assembly. In other embodiments, one or more pads are pivotally mounted in relation to the chassis or lever arms to selectively control the required tilt force relative to the equipment wheels. In a further embodiment, a lever-actuated linkage coupled to the drive axle raises/lowers the pad as the opposite wheel drives the snow thrower therearound.

  • Patent number: 4833801
Abstract: Guards for replaceable attachment to a snow plow blade near the outer ends of its cutting edge are shown. Each guard has a panel portion conforming generally to these outer ends; that portion is of a hard, impact resisting metal of high shear strength, and it has a lower margin running for at least that part of its length that extends with the cutting edge of the blade. The exterior end of at least one of the guards projects around the end of the cutting edge as a curb feeler. Also shown is a snow plow with a moldboard having an expendable cutting edge along its bottom, and attached to each end of the cutting edge, a guard of the above-described sort.

  • Patent number: 4756102
Abstract: A vehicle mounted ancillary support equipment such as a support runner, foot or shoe for use with street sweepers, snow plows, snow blowers and the like is disclosed. The support runner includes a ground contacting portion, for support of brushes, blades, scoops and the like having wear resistant metal inserts compression mounted in cavities through the ground contacting portion of the runner, and a flexible mounting portion for maintaining the runner on the vehicle. The support runner is particularly adapted for longer and more even wear of the ground engaging surface of the runner while supporting the wear resistant inserts in such a way as to reduce the likelihood of fracturing and chipping.

  • Patent number: 4709492
Abstract: A device for back scraping snow, earth, or other like substances which generally includes a truck having a concave snowplow blade mounted on its front. The blade has shoes provided on its backside, wedge shaped hinged connections mounted on the shoes, and a flat blade mounted pivotably on said wedge brackets. When the flat blade is brought in contact with snow to be scraped and the snowplow blade is moved in a backwardly direction, the snow to be scraped is moved by the flat blade.

  • Patent number: 4570366
Abstract: A long wearing plow blade which automatically overrides road surface irregularities and obstacles and returns to a snow-engaging position is provided which may be mounted on either the moldboard of a conventional snow plow or on the plow of the present invention. The improved snow plow of the present invention has a substantially horizontal deck trailing the plow blade. A vertically extending deflector baffle with a forwardly-extending upper lip which is integral with the deck guides snow to the side of the plow. The deflector baffle initially tangentially contacts snow being plowed, and in combination with the deck, results in a plow which is less susceptible to the formation of vision-obscuring clouds of snow and side slip when in use.

  • Patent number: 4395156
Abstract: A particulate material spreader suitable for spreading asphalt on roadways and other paved surfaces is formed by a bucket which has a back and side walls but no bottom, and arms by which it may be carried at the rear of a vehicle and lifted or lowered by a hydraulic mechanism. Height adjusters at the sides of the bucket hold the lower edge of the back of the bucket at selected height above the roadway whereby a layer of asphalt is metered from the bottom of the bucket as the remainder of a pile of asphalt is raked away by the bucket.

  • Patent number: 4346528
Abstract: A skid shoe for a snow plow blade is attached to the plow moldboard at the pre-existing bolt holes used to fasten the blade to the moldboard such that the shoe is mounted close to the cutting edge of the blade. Hard carbide wear bars or strips are fastened to the skid shoe for reducing the abrasive action on the cutting edge of the blade thereby prolonging the life of the blade. Each wear bar consists of a steel envelope packed with a carbide-bronze matrix. The wear bars are weldable to the skid shoe and easily replaced by welding a new bar on the top of an old one or by welding a new bar directly to the skid shoe. The steel envelope works to hold the carbide-bronze matrix together, and the ductile bronze gives the hard carbide additional durability and shock absorption, which means longer shoe life with less blade wear.
