Slit Ditcher Patents (Class 37/380)
  • Patent number: 10287747
Abstract: A trench scoop bucket that can be welded to, or otherwise integrally formed with, bucket that attaches to a tractor, front loader, or any other machinery that can operate a bucket. The trench bucket is attached level with the bottom plate of the bucket and slopes down to a depth to match the dimensions of a trench. The sidewalls of the trench scoop bucket extend vertically downward to match the depth of the trench, and a ramp plate slopes from the bottom plate of the bucket into the trench. Horizontal plates are disposed on either side of the ramp plate and attached to the sidewalls to provide structural support to the ramp plate. The horizontal plates are level with the bottom plate of the trench scoop bucket and can provide alignment of the ramp plate within the trench.

  • Patent number: 6474909
Abstract: A fluid assisted wedging and compacting device for the installation of underground cable that includes a blade with a cutting edge, two cutting faces a toe, a shoe, a cable feed tube, a pair of deflectors, a pair of grooves and a plurality of high pressure water jet nozzles. The blade is designed so that the deflectors and grooves are positioned in a vertical orientation on the lower half of the cutting faces of the blade. During use, the deflectors on the cutting faces deflect soil creating a soil free zone preventing blockage of the nozzles and allowing the water pressure from the nozzles to effectively aid the blade in cutting through the soil.

  • Patent number: 6351900
Abstract: A shaft driven trencher including a mobile powered base, a boom assembly, a chain digging assembly, a drive assembly and a linkage. The boom assembly includes a first boom member pivotally mounted to the base at a first pivot and a second boom member pivotally mounted to the first boom member. The chain digging assembly has a plurality of buckets. The drive assembly operably interconnects the mobile base and the chain digging assembly, with the drive assembly including a drive shaft connected to the mobile base for powered rotation of the drive shaft. The drive assembly further includes a right angle gear unit with input and output shafts, with the right angle gear unit being pivotally mounted to the boom assembly for rotation about the output shaft. The linkage interconnects the right angle gear unit with the base and pivots the right angle gear unit during rotation of the first boom member. The linkage also maintains the input shaft of the right angle gear unit facing the first pivot.

  • Patent number: 6238140
Abstract: A method for burying pipe or tile and, especially, double walled drainage tile. The method comprises the steps of digging a relatively wide trench having a bottom with a desired grade and loosening the soil in a central portion of the trench bottom by pulling a groove cutter which is attached to an excavating bucket along the trench bottom so that the bucket rides on the trench bottom and the groove cutter extends below the bottom surface of the trench. After the groove cutter loosens the soil, a modified trench shield or trench box is advanced along the trench bottom. The trench shield is provided, at its leading end, with a groove shaper which removes loosened soil from the central portion of the trench and forms a relatively narrow groove in the bottom of the trench. The width of the groove, adjacent the floor of the trench, may be a little larger or smaller or equal to the drain tile diameter.

  • Patent number: 6149348
Abstract: A tool for burying a hose, cable, wire, or other elongate, flexible structure in the ground, the tool being attachable to the loader arm of a front-end loader, consisting of a support attachable to the loader arm of a front-end loader; an excavator; a bracket for attaching the excavator to the support; and an attachment connected to the excavator. The excavator penetrates the ground and creates a trench as the front-end loader is driven forward and at the same time the attachment pulls an attached hose or other structure into the trench behind the excavator.

  • Patent number: 6067733
Abstract: A ditch trenching device is adapted to be connected to earth moving equipment that use buckets. A dirt port is dimensioned in a lower portion of a bucket. A trencher is attached to the dirt port and is defined by two side members each with a front, back, top, and floor that are spaced apart the width of the dirt port; a floor member with a distal end is attached to the floors; and a back member is attached to the backs. There is an acute angle between the front and floor. A first cutting edge is placed at the distal end and a second cutting edge is connected to the front by the floor.

  • Patent number: 6058631
Abstract: A trench cleaning apparatus for attachment to a tractor, the trench cleaning apparatus for extricating crumbs from a trench into control of the tractor. The trench cleaning apparatus utilizes a rigid member having a top edge, a bottom edge, a first side edge and a second side edge. When the rigid member is inserted into a trench at an angle to horizontal and propelled, the first edge and the second edge engage the sidewalls of the trench and the bottom edge of the rigid member engages the bottom of the trench. As the rigid member is propelled, crumbs flow from the bottom of the trench to the top of said rigid member such that crumbs are extricated from the trench and the trench is cleaned. A bucket can be utilized in cooperation with the trench cleaning apparatus such that crumbs above ground level can also be removed.
