Patent number: 12199720Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, a user equipment (UE) may perform channel state information (CSI) estimation on multiple links (e.g., a Uu link and a sidelink) without excessive power expenditures. The UE may report a CSI processing unit (CPU) capability to a network device. The CPU capability information may include separate CPU capabilities for separate links, or a single CPU capability for multiple links. The network device, the UE, or both, may trigger CSI estimation procedures that do not exceed the reported CPU capability, or may otherwise prioritize CSI estimation procedures based on the CPU capability. The UE may then perform CSI estimation procedures according to one or more rules associated with the CPU capabilities. In some examples, such rules may be explicitly signaled to the UE, or may be included in one or more standard documents.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 2022Date of Patent: January 14, 2025Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Seyedkianoush Hosseini, Wei Yang, Wanshi Chen

Patent number: 8977756Abstract: Greater network utilization is implemented through dynamic network reconfiguration and allocation of network services and resources based on the data to be transferred and the consumer transferring it. A hierarchical system is utilized whereby requests from lower layers are aggregated before being provided to upper layers, and allocations received from upper layers are distributed to lower layers. To maximize network utilization, paths through the network are reconfigured by identifying specific types of packets that are to be flagged in a specific manner, and then by further identifying specific routing rules to be applied in the transmission of such packets. Network reconfiguration is performed on an incremental basis to avoid overloading a path, and capacity can be reserved along one or more paths to prevent such overloading. Background data is agnostic as to specific transmission times and is utilized to prevent overloading due to reconfiguration.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 2013Date of Patent: March 10, 2015Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Vijay Gill, Chi-Yao Hong, Srikanth Kandula, Ratul Mahajan, Mohan Nanduri, Roger Peter Wattenhofer, Ming Zhang

Patent number: 8971203Abstract: A first communication node communicates by multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) wireless communications with a second communication node of a wireless communication system. The method includes receiving a Sounding Reference Signal (SRS) over a plurality of subcarriers transmitted by the second communication node for MIMO communications. Channel quality is measured responsive to the sounding reference signal to output a first channel quality value. A demodulation reference signal is received over a plurality of subcarriers transmitted by the second communication node for MIMO communications. Channel quality is measured responsive to the demodulation reference signal to output a second channel quality value. Reliability of the measurements of the first channel quality value and the second channel quality value is determined. The first and second channel quality values are combined while compensating for the determined reliability difference between the measurements to generate a combined channel quality value.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 2013Date of Patent: March 3, 2015Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventor: Chester Park

Patent number: 8909157Abstract: Technologies are generally described for alleviating inter-cell interference experienced by relays in wireless networks such as cellular systems that rely on relays to facilitate some communication between end user devices and base stations (BTSs). A BTS serving a relay may gather information on resource blocks being used to communicate between the relay and an end user. Then, the BTS may send interference indication signals such as High Interference Indicators (HII) or related signals on behalf of sub-communications executed by entities within the cell. Another BTS of a neighboring cell receiving the signals may avoid scheduling on those resource blocks, if possible, thereby relieving the relay link from potentially significant interference.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2011Date of Patent: December 9, 2014Assignee: Empire Technology Development LLCInventor: Ezekiel Kruglick

Patent number: 8903440Abstract: An ad hoc network with distributed hierarchical scheduling is disclosed. In one aspect, stations in a network mesh detect interfering neighbor stations and form interference lists. Stations transmit their interference lists. Scheduling stations schedule allocations for child stations in response to interference lists, received remote allocations, or a combination thereof. Coordination messages are transmitted including frame structure, allocations, and interference lists, among others. In another aspect, an ad hoc mesh network may be organized into a tree topology. In an example wireless backhaul network, this matches traffic flow. Distributed, hierarchical scheduling is provided where parents schedule communication with children while respecting already scheduled transmissions to/from interferers and to/from interferers of their respective children.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 2010Date of Patent: December 2, 2014Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Sanjiv Nanda, J. Publication number: 20140341044Abstract: A transmission source node transmits diagnostic frames where a TTL value is set to the number of hops that is counted until an intermediate node. A relay node decrements the TTL value of the received diagnostic frames, counts the number of diagnostic frames where the decremented TTL value is 0, and recognizes continuity between the transmission source node and the relay node based on the number of transmitted diagnostic frames transmitted from the transmission source node and the number of diagnostic frames where the decremented TTL value is 0.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 10, 2012Publication date: November 20, 2014Applicant: NEC CORPORATIONInventors: Masaki Umayabashi, Akira Sakurai, Zhenlong Cui

Patent number: 8885689Abstract: A first node including a physical layer device, a first transceiver and a second transceiver. The first transceiver includes a first analog front end connected to a first transmission line. The first analog front end is configured to transfer first data between the physical layer device and a second node via the first transmission line. The second transceiver includes a second analog front end connected to a second transmission line. The second analog front end is configured to transfer second data between the physical layer device and a third node via the second transmission line. A first type of the second transmission line is different than a second type of the first transmission line. The first node is configured to perform as a repeater using data repeating functions at a link layer control level.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 2011Date of Patent: November 11, 2014Assignee: Marvell Hispania S. Patent number: 8885657Abstract: Back pressure is mapped within a network, and primary bottlenecks are distinguished from dependent bottlenecks. Further, the presently disclosed technology is capable of performing network healing operations designed to reduce the data load on primary bottlenecks while ignoring dependent bottlenecks. Still further, the presently disclosed technology teaches identifying and/or suggesting a switch port for adding a node to the network. More specifically, various implementations analyze traffic load and back pressure in a network, identify primary and dependent bottlenecks, resolve the primary bottlenecks, collect new node parameters, and/or select a switch port for the new node. Further, a command can be sent to a selected switch to activate an indicator on the selected port. New node parameters may include new node type, maximum load, minimum load, time of maximum load, time of minimum load and type of data associated with the new node.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 2009Date of Patent: November 11, 2014Assignee: Brocade Communications Systems, Inc.Inventors: Michael Atkinson, Vineet Abraham, Sathish Gnanasekaran, Rishi Sinha

Patent number: 8867987Abstract: A method for computing a gain control metric used in controlling gain in a wireless repeater operates to store correlation and normalization values associated with the gain control metric for the previous N samples in registers. For each new sample of the gain control input signal, the correlation and normalization values are computed by discarding the multiplication terms of the obsolete sample and adding the multiplication terms of the new sample to the stored correlation and normalization values. In this manner, the complexity of the computation is greatly reduced and the complexity of the computation does not increase with the integration length.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2010Date of Patent: October 21, 2014Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Michael Mao Wang, Dhananjay Ashok Gore, Tadeusz Jarosinski
